I'm staying at HSW in November. This will be my first stay at a Hilton in 5 years, and my first as a comp'd Diamond via VA WP. (Blue HHonors since 2007).

Due to varying schedules my partner will now be arriving ~5.5 hours ahead of me, and I won't roll in till about 11pm at night.
Has anyone ever had their partner check-in before them and have there been any issues or things to take care of?

When making the booking his name was added as the second guest and I put a comment saying I authorised him to collect key and check-in for me, my CC is on my HH profile. I called up Hilton South Wharf today and they advised because they could see his name as the second person there will be no problem him checking in, presenting a credit card (in either his or my name), and receiving room keys. It just sounds too easy, hence my worry about them actually doing this on the day.

I will also giving him a copy of my CC HH have on file, Flight Itinerary, HHonors card, Drivers licence and signed authorisation as I'll be taking off out of PER very close to the check-in time, and hence out of contact.

You should not have any problems.
I do it many times when traveling with my partner and staying at Hilton hotels. I usually have meetings to attend so she checkes in before me. I just add her name as 2nd guest and that is enough.

To check-in they will be required to present a credit card. I have recently had a few award bookings (not Hilton but does not make any difference) for family members - the booking is always in my name. I normally suggest they approach the counter and say "I am here to check-in - the surname is xx_xx_". In my example, their surname is the same as mine (Mrs NM, Mini NMs or my parents). They just hand over their credit card and all is done. And in the case of at least one hotel chain, the stay still credits as a stay to my account (even though an award stay is not eligible for points earning of course).

Sweet, thanks for the replies from experience. Easier than I thought :)

I'll add my voice to this. As long as your partners name is added to the booking, there is no problem. I've regularly had my wife check in before me and sometimes even my (adult) daughter the same way! (oh, and who's to know if you yourself don't actually make it at all?)

Although not at a Hilton, I've have often had SWMBO check in at hotels I have booked in advance of my arrival. I will typically ensure her name is on the booking with a note that she'll arrive first. Never had any problem. All they really care about is that the person seems to know a booking was made in the right name and they're willing to hand over a credit card.
