Fellow AFFers

I am going to fall 20 SC short of re qualifying for WP early next month and need some help!

I find this particularly annoying as back in November I was bumped from a VA flight to a QF flight and missed the 20 SC from that leg. As a bonus I got to pay $40 for my 2nd bag on the red roo which I was never able to claim back from VA due to their unique way of handling complaints.

Rant aside. What do you all think the best way is to earn 20 SC from Perth? Given all the flights are long and expensive or short and expensive out of PER.

The best I have found so far is going to Esperance for a week end away at 0745 on a Saturday ($165) returning 1550 on the Sunday ($194).

Unfortunately the work situation is a bit tricky at the moment for some extra days off to have a proper break.

Geraldton on the first Satuday in August w/ promo code is slightly less at $330 all up (incl CC fee), although you'd have to get creative and book two one-ways if you wanted an instant turnaround instead of a 7 hour stay in town.

EDIT: Alternatively, if you knock off early on the Friday (31/7) you can do the whole thing in about 3.5 hours for $12-15 extra (and all on the same booking).

Yes, Geraldton is something I'll have to look at now if wanting to do a relatively quick (albeit usually bl**dy expensive) and same-day status run. A return flight to Busselton (BQB) used to be my go-to, and not too expensive either for the SC earn - it was a bit of a pain as there was a wait of several hours in BQB airport before the return flight (which went went down to Albany and back in the meantime) and we invariably had problems with getting SCs credited (the Velocity call centre kept insisting they were charter flights, even after VA took over Skywest and we were booking directly through the VA website) but at least it meant I could get both flights over and done with in one afternoon/evening. I did this several times over a couple of years and the friendly staff at BQB would always give me a cup of tea whilst I was waiting LOL. But unfortunately no longer an option now that VA have canned their flights to/from BQB.

The Friday Geraldton flights are the ones I'd be looking at for the almost immediate turnaround - I assume it's the same plane for the return flight, so I guess you'd have to disembark, wait at the gate and then reboard? Have never been to Geraldton airport before so not sure of the layout up there. Will be interested to know how it goes if you take that option.

Can you request ORC from the VA flight that you were bumped from?
If it was VA that did the bumping (and not just a change in corporate plans or something) then it should be fairly easy. My brother did it a few weeks ago when a VA flight was cancelled and they put him on QF. He just called up the Velocity call centre and they sorted it out in a few minutes.
