Received this overnight - finally! The website is not the best and at no stage do you get any confirmation that you've actually completed and confirmed....been waiting for this formal confirmation since April.

We are writing to you as you were successful in the ballot to attend the Anzac Day commemorations at Gallipoli in 2015.

This is a confirmation email. A review of your ballot account shows you have completed all of the minimum necessary mandatory questions to accept and secure your ballot offer.

You have also completed all details required for your accompanying person.

At this time you do not need to take any further action in response to this email. You have successfully accepted your ballot offer to attend Anzac Day commemorations at Gallipoli in 2015.

Yours sincerely
The Gallipoli 2015 Ballot Team

Nice. Seems a little disorganised though with regards to timing.

IMO - it's been and will be a shemozzle!

The minimum mandatory Q's can only be described as basic...

The list of Q's is a mile long

Acceptance of large number of conditions
Passport detail
Name, address, postal address
Departure date, booking numbers, tour operator
Travel insurance
Assistance requirements

What is interesting: hardly any of them are slated as a mandatory Q .... not even passport details. You can tick the critical boxes (name, DOB, acceptance of conditions, address, contact No) and have no intention of ever attending......how many do we think will do this?

For those that are waiting for the second/third/fourth round of the ballot ... I can only imagine the difficulties you might face getting accommodation/tours/transport. I booked straight after receiving notification of the ballot back in April and the availability was tightening and prices rising! God only knows what the landscape will look like a few months out...

IMHO the first round winners should have been forced to commit much earlier with far more skin in the game!

I can envisage the gates being opened at the 11th hour in an attempt to avoid a half empty embarrassment...

yup - this was what our tour operator said from the very beginning when consultation started some years ago! In fact initially all they were going to request in order to confirm someone was attending was their passport no!!

However having lived in Canberra for 31 years and done business with the public service for all that time it does not surprise me. Very stubborn people, don't like to listen to other people's advice and very little real world experience!

You don't even need a passport. This could turn into an episode from Yes Minister...

My offer required booking details and passport details. I was going to ask if the booking details were that desperate right now, as I'm busy and I need time to organise (if indeed I go).

Only some very basic questions are mandatory. No need for booking details....complete the basic Q's and you're on board.

Yes got my notification too, but as you know Amaroo it took some anxious times to see if we were actually registered because the web site does not confirm you are after going through the registration.

I just declined my tickets (offered on the waiting list). I had made alternative holiday plans for mid-year and with the cost of flights and tours it's not practical to change.

Sorry to read that.

I think this might be a common outcome for many wait listers....getting notice this late in the game is going to knock out many.

Discussion and my place on the list has made me investigate tour options. RSL tours website has a 2 day deal for €180. That is pick up on 24th, BBQ until gates open, walk in, then a day walking the various sights. I guess that's a good emergency backup.

Yes. My travel partner has pulled the pin and IF I get an offer I will have to seriously look at things also.

This is the one i have booked. I think it will be a good option. Hopefully see you on the bus.

After months of no feedback or confirmation that the web-form was completed correctly - I've received another email confirming that I've done enough to secure our spot.

The first rounders have to complete their acceptance by tomorrow (I think) so mass emails for the additional rounds should go out next week.

Good luck!

I certainly wasn't a "first rounder" but mine is due today. I'll be letting it slide unfortunately for me.....luckily for my replacement!

Yep I also go my second confirmation.

The organisers must be starting to pay attention. We did the final update to our profile on Wed just gone ( had to add the flight details ) and received confirmation via email on Friday that everything is complete. Very excited now.
