Once they announce it I can breath easy :)

But if true, great news for Daniel and wish him all the best!

P.S Spa this weekend... hell yes!

If Webber was to stay with Red Bull he would have no. '2' on his car.

hypothetical: If he stayed in F1 and changed teams does he keep the '2'?

As he is leaving F1 does Ricciardo get the '2'?

The team that hosts the current world champion driver have the right to numbers 1 and 2. Outside of that the numbers are then issued based on how they finish in the constructors championship the previous season. Assuming Vettel wins this year and Ricciardo replaces Weber, he will drive the car with the number 2 on it.

Thanks for the clarification.

Ricciardo has some big shoes to fill. Can he do it? I think so.
Can he beat Seb? I hope so. Seb is not unbeatable.
Can't wait for next season.

Hey all... I figured I'd post this here as most reading this thread would be interested in F1...

Mrs D-H and I are heading up for the F1 race weekend in Singapore but arrive late on the Friday night and intend to make best use of the facilities at The Marina Bay Sands that evening...

So, the two passes I have for the Friday 20th September are of no use to me, and having learnt and earned so much from these fora, it's high time I gave something back.

The passes are for the Turn 2 grandstand and overlook turns 1 & 2, the pit exit and should have a reasonable view down the start/finish straight too. On track action on the Friday includes 2 F1 practice sessions, GP2 practise and qualifying, and the Porsche Carrera Cup practise.

The passes also allow you access to Zones 1-4 and to lots of entertainment - see here.

Let me know if you are interested and will be able to make good use of them. First come, first served. They'll be posted from Melbourne, and I'm happy to cover postage costs for anywhere in Australia but would ask for reimbursement if I need to send them overseas.

If I don't get a taker in the next 48 hours or so I'll re-post in the 'free to a good home' thread.

PS if you happen to be in the SYD Virgin lounge now for next half hour or so, you could collect them in person...

Love to see Ricciardo get the opportunity! Webber has consistently been beaten by his teammates his entire career - even at Jaguar he used to have Klien in front of him! Honestly, I think if you want to be treated like the #1 at a team, you have to be the #1 at a team and at Red Bull Webber isn't by a long stretch. The teams do and should back their most likely chance of a winner each week and over the season and that clearly isn't Webber.

As a one-eyed Mclaren supporter I have only ever really had an interest in Webber due to being an Aussie driver but never really rated him and didn't ever think he'd win a drivers championship. I do love the idea of an Aussie driver in the F1 though and think it's great for the sport's profile in Australia and hope Australia gets behind Ricciardo like it has Webber.

A generous offer day-heg. I have just checked my roster and I am working. Next time.

Agree - a very generous offer - hopefully someone will claim it. I am looking at Abu Dubai in Nov - for the F1 race as well as seeing Depeche Mode live (two birds with one stone).

day-heg,

A very generous offer! I was fortunate to sit at Turn 1/2 a few years ago due to a similar offer from a friend. Amazing atmosphere!

Unfortunately I won't be going this year as I have something called a wedding coming up :|

And I have 3 passes available for the Friday night as well

I think you need to have a closer look at his career stats. Had it not been for Mercedes throwing him and his team mate under the bus after their poorly designed cars flipped at Le Mans Webber would have been a career Mercedes man. He was getting groomed for McLaren so you would have had another reason to follow him.
