Hi I am interested to hear everyone's thoughts on the value of having 2 x WPs in the one household?
After being blessed with double status credits til end of Nov I have the chance to reach those dizzy heights somewhat easily now. Unfortunately I spent all my points getting to Gold (thanks to all of you here at AFF) so the next 400 sc's would have to be earned on $$$ flights. Hubby does not see the value in this as his WP allows us fantastic travel experiences for the most part of our travel together.
I agree but am stung by my recent Syd-Mel flight on my own where my pre allocated 32A window seat got moved to second last row in the middle! (whereupon I preceded to start drinking and even got given a free second bottle by an FA while I pondered that yes, they do know who I am, waaaaa)
I really just want to see whats its like to be WP, and am also curious how 2 WP's would be treated on a PE flight to LA which we have booked for next year.

Depends... how often do you fly separately? or booked separately??
Have seen many stories of people flying together on same PNR being upgraded as if of one status, so if you are always together, less benefit

Only you can judge whether or not it's worth it to you. Are your travel plans likely to see you keep WP? 400SC's is quite expensive in dollar terms unless it's gained via YUPP's in the USA.
Shrek and I are both WP's but to be honest it doesn't make much difference. Biggest benefit is taking the kids into the F Lounge but this would be possible even with one WP.
We as a family have had one op-up in 3 years Y-J AKL-SYD in school hols.

HWMBO and I are also both WPs living under one roof. Most of our travel is together, and on our last trip, I'd be lying if I said I felt we were treated any more special than when only I was WP. There was some "over and above" service when disembarking from the A380 in Melbourne with the crew collecting us from J upstairs and letting us off with the F pax - but not sure if this was related to our status or if they just were being nice because we'd been nice to them...

The lounge access does come in handy when we are travelling with friends - especially being able to get extra people into the F lounge etc.

With that said, if you're close, and you have a DSC offer, and you've always wondered, I say go for it. 400 SCs is easy to achieve with one return to HBA ex BNE or CBR at around 32-48k ASA points (surely you have some you can steal from hubby). There's even some business class offers on at the moment that might be good value.

We are a couple of WPs and SWMBO has only done 1 trip not travelling with me (I do a bit more for work). When we travel together I can't really see them taking better care of us and often the cabin crew just assume that only 1 of us is WP, example on a SYD-BKK flight in whY they offered me an express pass as a WP but they didn't offer one to her only when I asked for an extra one was it handed over. She did say that when she traveled solo to Europe in August she did get very good service in whY, noise cancelling headphones, J wine offered and express passes.

Thanks all for your replies you have confirmed that it's not worth going for WP. Now to stop obsessing/planning and thrashing the Qantas booking page + earning points calculator.
MarcB the 400 sc's would be needed before doubling to get me from 700~ -> 1400. I reckon that CBR to HBA business fare is good value at $790 for 100 sc's.

I have not given up completely as I could do an SJU trip/s when in the US next year :)

Several WP in our family, though not all under the same roof. The reason we maintain it is the ability to request award seats to be opened, and the 100% status bonus. The F Lounge access is redundant as we have access based on class of service. I work for a NGO so my work travel is in whY, so the Domestic J Lounge and 23B on a 767 make it tolerable ;)

Double WP in the Hancock household, and prior to WP1 it seemed to make little difference on the odd occasions when flying together with either QF or DJ.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
