SWMBO & me are planning to go to Canada. Initial plan is 5-6 days skiing Whistler and then some Joe Tourist stuff in Vancouver. Leave 1 March ex-SYD then return on about 15 March ex-YVR

Would it be better to take on a package deal or build the trip ourselves? Quick research gives about $1800/pax for plane and hotel on QF and then that again for room/gear/tix in Whistler.

Any advice welcome as theres a lot of companies out there doing packages.

A few of my friends have used Value Tours for Canada and NZ, and just looking at their site they offer great accommodation at the Fairmont Whilstler for $1414.00 includes 7 night stay and 5 day lift pass. I have stayed at Delta, Nancy Greens and Fairmont..they are all good, but the Blackcombe lifts are immediately behind the Fairmont so great location, and you can traverse both Blackcombe and Whistler via the cable car at the top of the mountain. Fairmont Chateau Whistler | Canada Ski & Snowboarding Packages | Value Tours I often joke with people that you often only get four runs a day at Whistler, but that's about 32klms of downhill skiing.

Edit: I see the travel dates are from 2JAN13 to 14FEB13, but I feel sure they would have other options.
