I had to change from UA SAT-DEN-LAX to AA SAT-DFW-LAX due to an unseasonal snowstorm which closed DEN for about 3 days.
Indeed DEN can have snow problems, but it is not a major AA hub (is a hub for UA) so tends not to have a significant impact on AA flights, except of course for those AA passengers want to travel to or from Denver!

I think it was in September of the year concerned.
Wow, that certainly is unseasonable, even for Colorado.

So much so that I thought I'd snoop around and check and much to my  I couldn't find records of a single centimetre of snow in DEN in Sept 1997. I did however find a couple of days (24th/25th) in October with significant snowfall (11.8 and 10.1, and I assume that's inches), so my memory is getting a little flakey. Could have sworn it was Sept. but there you go.

Late October is understandable. September did seem a little early, even for Denver.
