Sadly, given the current financial situation with Avianca and lack of options to redeem the miles on international travel at the moment, I'll be sitting this one out as well.

Buy them through OMAAT and get an extra 5%. The risk with lifemiles is that if Avianca folds, the *A awards may not be available, There doesn't seem to be a problem with lifemiles continuing as it is a seaparate company and isn't part of the Avianca chapter 11 situation.

If you are prepared to take the risk, this is not a bad deal as it is around A$18/1000, which is the best I've seen in a long time.
