Thanks for the update, time to move more points to Velocity I guess! Problem is I have a nice stash of points with Velocity that I hardly use now, just waiting for the ability to use them on SQ :D

Even with the 15%, are there any good value redemptions to move them to Velocity as opposed to SQ or MH? Have things improved?

My bias is international J flights.

What do you want improved ?
The only bit that I don't like about SQ is that points expire, I have a chunk expiring in the next few months

I am curious to see how many VA points are required for SQ J A380 redemption, although with SQ fiddling around with the A380 on the MEL route again it makes it difficult to book

Wow thanks, that looks much higher than redeeming via SQ for SQ flights

It is, plus I believe SQ pass on the YQ even on VFF awards, and to redeem them you need to call the Membership Call Centre.

If it is only to Singapore then might as well burn on EY - comparable product, no YQ [-]and can be booked online.[/-]

I was thinking of booking an SQ intra-Asia, but after comparing burn rates on VFF and SQ Krisflyer, even after factoring in the 15% bonus and looking at the Standard awards on Krisflyer (let alone the Saver awards), I'm much better off redeeming with Krisflyer after sweeping from MR.

I suppose it is slightly easier to come by VFF points compared to Krisflyer miles, especially if you are a VA WP raking in the points thanks to the 100% bonuses on most travel (plus similar bonuses on car hire, restaurant eating...)

EDIT: Checked VFF website on the points tables; seems you can't book EY awards online any more, or yet. Damn.

Thanks for the info.... I thought great... then looked and no CBA! What's going on there? Normally a bonus participant. Bugger :(

I have recently got the david jones AMEX platinum card. I am assuming that is also eligible for the 15% bonus rewards?

My ultimate goal is to redeem a J ticket on SQ EWR-SIN (world's longest flight). Am I better off transferring points to KrisFlyer (i currently do not have an account) or VFF? (I have around 40,000 points) I don't have any status with Virgin (don't think it would help in redemptions anyway. The only way I can be earning miles for SQ is through this DJ Amex card..

Help!

I would have thought you'd have more chance redeeming direct from KrisFlyer if that's your goal, that said I seem to recall reading that this route was being cancelled?

yes you are correct. The route is being cancelled in October I believe. Even a one way ticket would do. Time to join Krisflyer and see how many miles I need!

I was also disappointed with no CBA (and also no NAB for some reason). Also, I thought last time there was a bonus points promo it was 20%. Or am I just dreaming.

No it was 20% last time. I don't need to transfer just yet so I think I'll just leave them and hope for a future promo.

Pretty sure both promotions last year were 15%, with Amex Premium getting a further bonus on top.

The 2011 promotion was 20%.

Well I just whacked over 30k pts... puts me over 200k again... might need to do one more Reward J flight before end of June :D

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Well I was glad I waited as I was very close to transferring points last month - but I usually wait for the beginning of each quarter which is when the new specials come out (i.e. start of Jan, Apr, Jul and Oct)

Sucks re CBA not included. Used to be with them - glad I moved out. If you are with NAB, you would probably have either of the 2 Velocity cards which credit points directly on to your account - so there are no points to transfer per se.
