Found an offer on the Qantas Agents site for $100 statement credit when you spend $700 with Qantas on an eligible American Express card during December. Unfortunately due to no previois posts I can't post the link but hopefully someone else can.

Hopefully some of you can make use of it.

Thank you both for the posts. Have registered.

It is over ONE or MORE transactions so no you can buy multiple small ones, thats if the flight vouchers process as the same merchant as tickets.

Register an eligible Card, spend $700 or more on Qantas flights on that Card, in one or more transactions, online at qantas.com or at your local travel agent between 2 and 31 December 2015 and receive one $100 credit. This offer is limited to the first 10,000 Cards to register.

T&Cs exclude gift cards. But have people found that it nevertheless works in previous offers?

For some reason I mis-read it as 'in one transaction' when I clicked on it in the portal. I'm going to give it a try then with a combination of vouchers. More useful in chunks to avoid the CC fee.

Would appear you'd have to buy a $1,000 voucher:

For one person yes but if the voucher was for a couple (two names on the one voucher) it could be $350.00 pp.

Wonder if a solo traveller could purchase 2 x $350.00 vouchers in two transactions or does the fine print specifically say that the $700.00 must be in the one transaction?

Good pickup, though of course that means you'd need to anticipate travelling however many times to use up the multiple vouchers that you buy.

So can you use these with Jetstar flights?
Can you use in Jetstar best price guarantee?

I read it as one or more transactions on the registered card during the qualifying period.

It's always worked for me as AmEx seems to process gift voucher purchases as travel. (Which kinda makes sense as gift vouchers are essentially dummy bookings with stored value and your gift voucher reference becomes your PNR after you've redeemed for flights.)

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Looks like it works for gift cards. Just bought $700 and got the email:

Congratulations, a credit is on its way. Thank you for making an eligible purchase and qualifying for your Amex Offer. Your $100 credit for spending $700 or more at Qantas will be issued to your registered Card account. Credits are generally issued within 5 business days upon completion of your eligible transaction.

This seems to go against the Terms and Conditions

  • Gift Card, Hotel, Cars, Activities and package purchases are excluded.

I wonder if award redemption Fees would also work?

Whilst it might be at odds with the T&Cs, the excluded transactions listed in the T&Cs (hotels, cars etc) are actually not processed by QF and therefore not a QF related purchase.

On the other hand, as eminere pointed out, a gift voucher purchase is essentially processed by QF as a dummy booking (with a booking reference) which would qualify for the statement credit.

This is consistent with my previous experiences too.
