Since Admin locked the thread about the new feature on AFF with inclusion of the like button I am still wondering what the point of it is.

Re: The totally off-topic thread

Maybe there's going to be points awarded the same as Milepoint??

The main benefit is to help you locate the interesting posts in a long thread. You can essentially jump directly to the posts with "Likes", perhaps helping to save some time and effort in trolling through a long thread.

Seems that 'Likes' don't move with posts (e.g. where NM was rearranging things).

You can also retract 'Likes'....

Well spotted! When posts are moved (by a mod) to a different thread, it seems that the old thread is still credited with the 'Likes'.

Looks like a bug to me. Will investigate

It showed as 3 likes in the notifications box but they didn't go anywhere.

Back to the drawing board eh.

Not keen on the heart displayed when there is a "like"… also don’t care much for the share button, hope that can be turned off.

Wow I didn't even notice the like buttons neither like 1.0 nor like 2.0 (until now that is)

I'm happy...just got notification that someone "liked" one of my post:mrgreen:

I cannot see the point either. Did the "like" feature originate on facebook?

I think Facebook was one of the first to introduce such a feature. Certainly, it was the medium where I first heard of the feature.

Reaction to MP no doubt, but there’s got to be a better way of recognising a really useful post than quoting it and saying so, and that’s what a "like" is good for.

No, nothing to do with MP. :)

The "Like" function is included in the just-released upgrade of vbseo, which we have been using for many years. The functionality was announced back in August last year ( The "Likes Tree", finding a forum's most useful content will change forever.... - vBulletin SEO Forums) and has been in development/testing since then.
