Over the last few months I've enjoyed a few enjoyable trips in J on Silkair. The crew seem more relaxed as they depart from and return to SIN each day.

My boarding passes to do these journeys have always been issued by SQ when I've checked in in BNE, ZRH or HAN. In transit in SIN I just waltzed into the Silverkris lounge, no questions asked as I assumed that was the entitlement for Silkair J.

At Christmas when travelling with the family I was doing one of my 'baggage' maneuvers where my luggage was only going as far as SIN but I was continuing onto REP. The luggage was there for when i went to work on the return.

Anyway, I found myself holding a Silkair boarding pass, the rest of the family had SQ boarding passes. I did get to enter the SilverKris lounge using my BNE-SIN boarding pass to supplement my Silkair BP.

Reading the finer points of the silkair website, the lounge rules were interpreted correctly, Silkair J used the Krisflyer Gold Lounge.

SilkAir: SilkAir Experience - On the ground - Airport Lounge

Just putting this out there in case other pax are caught out one day.

As for the Krisflyer Gold lounge I did try it out after reading some of the comments about lack of showers and toilets. Food and seating was reasonable. Drink selection suited me.

WOW there ya go - I did not know that.

Flown MEL-SIN-SZX and return several times - both BP's printed identically in MEL so I guess that is why I never noticed - as for ret I just checked - and both BP stubs look identical again on SQ paper - do you only get SilkAir BP if it is actually issued in SIN maybe.

As for SliverKris V Gold Lounge still is IMHO world of diff - toilets are only few meters away so indeed you walk shorter distance than from far end of SK lounge to toilets - but no shower real bummer.

The MI boarding pass I had was issued in SIN. I went out and collected some luggage and only then could check-in at SIN for the next sector.

On my return from Philippines, I was carrying a Silkair issued boarding pass for the SIN-BNE sector and this allowed me access to Silverkirs. It's not just the boarding pass colour but the actual journey. I thought that the staff new the situation well.
