    Virgin Australia B737 Max 8

Ask NZ how their A320s are doing 🤣

    Virgin Australia B737 Max 8

At this point it sounds like they keep on finding stuff when turning over the same stone again and again

    Virgin Australia B737 Max 8

The Airbus ship has sailed long ago. Order books are full for the next half decade at least and VA isn’t the kind of customer AB would bend over backwards to win over (a la UA). I’m still convinced A321neos on triangle and transcons with LR/XLRs for SHI would have suited VA well and covered...

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

Comparing QFF to US or EU FFPs is a non starter because the competitive environment is so different. QF enjoys a cushy 2/3 marketshare in domestic Australia with the lions share of high value high yielding customers and partners. We’re talking any financial institution that issues cards...

    QF First Lounge in Singapore

AF switched their F lounge in SIN from the JetQuay CIP terminal/lounge to the QF lounge a few years back. Not sure if it was when the agreement between the 2 airlines was furthened or when new management at AF decided to do a deep review of the F product (almost axed it completely sometime...

    QF First Lounge in Singapore

As of November 2023 yes. AF/KL switched lounges in SIN/HKG for the QF lounge (applies to J pax and eligible skyteam elites).

Double Status Credits promotion (Book by 27/2/24, travel 28/2/24-14/2/25)

Would flight credits qualify for this or would they use their grandfathered booking dates?

    QF First Lounge in Singapore

Fully agree. SIN/CGK are already short enough as is, by the time the FA’s are done chatting with everyone and clearing everything you’re 3 hours into the flight.

    ANA partnership with Virgin Australia

Well this is absolutely bull because I flew ANA about a week after the partnership started back in July. I had FirstnameMiddlename Lastname on the ticket whereas my Velocity status only has First and Last name and all points were credited automatically as my number was in when booking.

New Qantas route - Perth to Paris from July 2024

CDG is currently going through a game of musical chairs with terminal 2A-B-C-D opening and closing for renovations that *should* be over before the Olympics. QF will be with AA and BA in T2A when that reopens, currently they’re operating out of T2B I believe? AA and CX lounges will be open by...

    Virgin Australia B737 Max 8

I’m talking about a full on switch like QF. Part availability and pricing for 737 will go up down under because the region’s biggest airline is moving away from the type. It was just a thought experiment, obviously considering NZ’s current woes not overly relying on the NEOs and 787s is a...

    Virgin Australia B737 Max 8

VA would have been smart to go down the A320neo path with A321LR having legs for a lower risk foray into Asia.

Platinums can now use complimentary upgrade from a Choice fare

I reckon it would have been smarter for VA to set the upper limit to 3 upgrade credits for a 1001+ upgrade. That would entice me to pay up for a flex fare on the return. Right now I have no reason to book anything other than a lite on the return. Anyway ended up using this today for my partner...

United lounge access as VA platinum

VA transferred their VA coded partner allocations to European markets from EY to QR when they partnered with them. They have little to nothing to gain from selling EY coded tickets on their own website. You still get SC/miles(+status bonus) on EY coded/EY operated flights which is quite generous.

Tokyo Haneda slot - how will Virgin Operate it?

Considering I got basically the same when my QF10 got delayed by a full day a couple months back I’d say nothing out of the ordinary for airlines down under. Except in that case they were on the hook for UK261 whereas outside of that jurisdiction we have bugger all.

Tokyo Haneda slot - how will Virgin Operate it?

ICN and TPE are voluntary omissions. GMP and TSA not only have great O&D but also funnel the HND hub. BR and OZ are partners but it isn’t a JV a butts in NH seats generate the most revenue and these routes generate the highest yield. I think NH should try harder to push EU/US connections. KE...
