Qatar Airways to acquire 25% of Virgin Australia

I suspect they will want tickets to be open for sale shortly for the upcoming EU summer. I also suspect this will be closer to 3-4x daily flights once it is fully up and running. Emirates must be shaking in its boots.

Qatar Airways to acquire 25% of Virgin Australia

Why is everyone speculating on the type of lease arrangement? It literally says wet lease in the press release. It also says BNE,SYD, PER and MEL are where they will operate from. It also says from mid next year.

Rex in voluntary administration, ending all 737 services

Looks like VA wants to take over REXs regional routes through a takeover 1722375408 “Rex and Virgin Australia are also exploring opportunities to support regional customers, which include Virgin Australia selling Rex’s regional services through code share or interline arrangements, and making...

Rex in voluntary administration, ending all 737 services

Look, I don’t think they are blaming them per se. It is more of a commentary of the Sydney slot system which is a direct result of QF being the most influential lobbyist machine in Australia. Certainly can’t blame VA (given they themselves haven’t been a thriving company for more than a decade)...

Rex in voluntary administration, ending all 737 services

It is really just sad that QANTAS reputation (and it still is so strong despite what everyone says) prevents anyone else from thriving in the market. IMO, you can’t really fix this. That’s just a fact of life nowadays. VA tried and failed (they haven’t thrived since their first few years) I am...

Rex in voluntary administration, ending all 737 services

“Sources with direct knowledge of situation said live negotiations between PAG and EY were centred on converting its debt to equity — giving its massive influence over the airline — should EY be appointed as expected.”...

Rex in voluntary administration, ending all 737 services

I think it is clear that PAG is going for a full takeover. This is their chosen way to do it. This could actually be the brith of a much more competitive REX.

Mixed domestic class booking - lounge access?

How does lounge access work with a mixed class domestic booking? For instance, Syd-Mel in business and Mel-Adl in economy (or vice versa with the classes) would I get lounge access at Syd and Mel? Thanks everyone!

Qatar in talks to take up to 20pc stake in Virgin

20% to put it in simple terms is nothing more than a strategic stake. It simply guarantees the QR/VA agreement maintains its status quo. it does open a possibility of VA wet leasing some QR planes to double capacity to DOH. I wouldn’t think that is a high chance however.

What is Virgin Australia's strategy (post-administration)?

I mean 19/06/24 is hardly a few days ago yet alone a few years ago.
