    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

It's funny but when you first enter it does have that brief feeling of being somewhat special, for all of a few seconds. But as soon as you are a few metres in, either side, you are confronted with the reality; which is that it is just a mass feeding lot.

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Had the opportunity of visiting the Silverkris lounge in Singapore 4 times in the last month. I know that is a long way shy of making me any sort of expert but each time it has been packed to the brim. Can't say it ever really matched my expectations as a top tier business class lounge. Overall...

Virgin business class Bali flights rip-off

Each to their own. Not sure where you plucked $50 for international lounge access equivalent to Qantas First Lounge which you get as a platinum member with Qantas, even when flying Jetstar in Y. Last time I checked Virgin still charge $65 for their domestic lounges for a "casual pass".

Virgin business class Bali flights rip-off

Ditto for travelling in Y (international) as you still get access to first lounge if platinum.

Virgin business class Bali flights rip-off

If anything I'm a fan of Virgin's domestic J product, not so much the current international offering (which this thread was initially about) I don't buy into the whole argument that lounge access is only worth $50 and an amenity kit is only worth $20 blah blah blah. The overall experience is...

Virgin business class Bali flights rip-off

Yes but you are cherry picking the cheapest dates (in January) for Virgin while using a discount code against just going on Qantas website and booking any date (in January) without a code. Most customers wouldn't even know that any discount codes exist, and many people are not flexible with the...

Virgin business class Bali flights rip-off

It's only a savings of $270 unless you are comparing using a discount code with Virgin (on the cheapest days) vs paying full price with Qantas. Also it's no comparison if flying on the A330 with Qantas. The hard product is worlds apart. If flying in a 737 with Qantas then the hard product is...

    2023 Hilton Status Retention

Very handy to know this for any future promos!

Virgin business class Bali flights rip-off

Yes it is one person asking for it as a courtesy request. I want to clarify that im not saying that it should be expected. I'm just saying that if I had asked for it and was told no and then saw the business cabin crew subsequently chatting or "resting" the entire remainder of the flight...

Virgin business class Bali flights rip-off

<redacted> No one is talking about offering "dine on demand" we are talking about 1 business class passenger asking if he can have his meal a little later as he's not hungry presently. Ive never done this myself, but I've witnessed it happen several times and it's never once been an issue for...

Virgin business class Bali flights rip-off

And it's exactly what has been demonstrated by this very response of yours that my assumption was indeed correct. Your own words are that you would rather rest than do something extra. That's the exact opposite attitude to what someone should have that's serving in business class. If I came...

Virgin business class Bali flights rip-off

You are the one off on a straw man tangent here. No one said anything about around the clock non stop service. The question was raised that if you guys have nothing else to do and someone requests to have their meal later on what is the justification for saying no? If you are so flat off your...

Virgin business class Bali flights rip-off

That's the point I think. They would prefer to just chill and chat. They assume that everyone should just go to sleep after eating and not bother them for the remainder of the flight.

Virgin business class Bali flights rip-off

Agreed. Virgin's international business product is a joke until they can offer lounge access; either through partnership arrangements, or otherwise.

    UpgradeMe pricing and success

This is a tad harsh. You definitely get a more comfortable and spacious seat, both in width and more leg room. Sure it doesn't lie flat, that's the main downfall of Virgin's business class product. But you do also get served a pretty decent meal (for domestic airline food standards) as well as...

PER-MEL via Adelaide - Does that count as four sectors?

Why is this question in the promo codes thread? Anyway, as you point out there needs to be an award saver J class seat available first in order to get the Platinum upgrade from Y. Ive been looking for these availabilities over the next 2 months and they seem to be rare as hens teeth. Perhaps...

    Manaia Lounge in Queenstown?

You need to have an Amex card or a Priority Pass membership to have access to this lounge. I agree with you that's it's a pathetic situation with virgin on international flights offering nothing in the way of lounge access, even for J class or platinum members.

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Ok thanks. I did this for a bunch of flights but wasn't sure if there is a way to then check the flights you are on waitlists for.

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

just wondering how you join a waiting list for an award flight? Is it just as simple as clicking on the words "waiting list" and it's done? I did this for a bunch of flights but don't know how to check and see what flights I'm on the "waiting list" for. I'm just using the singaporeair.com...

Article: Amex Reopens Australian Airport Lounges

Unfortunately I have to concur. The bigger joke is that Virgin hasn't got any international lounge arrangements in place, unless you are traveling with a partner airline.
