    Strategy to obtain UK Amex

Maybe, I didn't know about this TBF. But I was being offered 95k points for the Amex from my own computer (it was 75k from my work computer) and I didn't know enough about UK Amex offers to know how long that offer would last for. So it might not have been worth that many more points for more...

    Jetstar adds Melbourne - Colombo

I would unironically love this (okay maybe not on JQ) and wish there was a bigger market for it. That whole region is so hard to get to, the easiest way is connecting in LA but that's a real pain in the cough and involves entering the US. Further down is even harder - want to visit Costa...

Qantas - Emirates Award flight Discussion

It's $4k r/t to Europe just on surcharges though with EK J. You can fly J from CGK to Frankfurt on Qatar for $3700ish r/t and you gain points rather than spend them! You can also use your QFF points to fly up to CGK in J should you wish, availability isn't too bad. Have also seen some decent...

Qantas - Emirates Award flight Discussion

Flying EK J on QFF rewards just isn't worth it with the massive surcharges IMO. F is a different proposition altogether.

    Virgin Australia flights to Doha

This would be odd given QR doesn't differentiate access between their two main business class lounges for any other airlines, eg BA J passengers can access both. So it makes no sense VA J passengers would be limited in their choice given the flights are on QR metal, how tight the partnership is...

    Jetstar adds Melbourne - Colombo

Bogans don't choose their holiday itineraries by the presence of Jetstar flights. This will have backpackers, people visiting family, mid range tourists wanting to save a few $$ on their flights etc. Anyway parts of the south coast of SL have basically been colonised by Russian tourists...

    Jetstar adds Melbourne - Colombo

True but UL economy is the direct competition here. Only flown business with them (which was pretty good TBF) but not sure they'd keep the drinks as flowing or whether the price would be as competitive. Could fly a better airline though this would involve a change of planes (including QF...

    Jetstar adds Melbourne - Colombo

Will 10 hours on the refurbished JQ planes (with Wifi fitted) be that much worse than 10 hours in QF economy? Or indeed if we're comparing to his actual other options UL economy/SQ economy but with a connection?

    Jetstar adds Melbourne - Colombo

Business is 2.6k r/t as a starter fare or 3k each way with status credits and points. This compares to 5.1k direct with UL, though theirs is a business lie flat product rather than PE. Competitive pricing though UL's product would definitely be better on the journey back to MEL.

    Jetstar adds Melbourne - Colombo

Hoping there's some decent deals for their business product on this - it's equivalent to a very solid PE at a good price for some of their other destinations.

Qantas - Emirates Award flight Discussion

To be fair FJ is low key becoming a decent way to get to the US on QFF points.

Qantas - Emirates Award flight Discussion

I'm actually doing the MEL flight in the 380! Wanted to mix up my experiences, also BRU seemed more likely to not have an equipment change when I booked it. Actually going to London but will Eurostar it there from Brussels.

    Amex point conversions

You can fly MEL or SYD - DPS on Garuda widebody business class for 40k Qatar Avios each way. Vietnam is a bit trickier granted.

BA Avios devaluation from 15 Dec 2025

This is interesting especially with regard to the upcoming Amex Australia devaluation. 180,000 MR transfers to 60,000 BA/QR Avios. However transferring to BA means this can buy another 60,000 Avios for currently about 1150 AUD or 120,000 Avios for around 2263 AUD. Transferring to QR from...

Qantas - Emirates Award flight Discussion

Got my final EK F experience doing MEL - DXB - BRU (for gamechanger experience) in Feb. Suspect it'll be the last on QFF points. I am guessing EK probably had to technically leave some occasional F availability space here and there to QF (when they otherwise limited it to their silver FFs...

BA Avios devaluation from 15 Dec 2025

This would mean 450,000 MR would transfer to 300,000 Marriot rewards which would in turn transfer to 100,000 airline miles. Add on a 25,000 bonus (5,000 for every 60,000 MR) and it's still a rate of 3.6:1. Surely you'd just transfer straight from Amex at 3:1 unless it was a program not covered...

BA Avios devaluation from 15 Dec 2025

Qatar are due a devaluation but they won't necessarily follow BA, they didn't with the last devaluation I don't think. If anyone moves with BA first it'll be Iberia but I haven't seen this yet either. Ultimately BA have the whip hand being the transatlantic airline of choice for business...

    Strategy to obtain UK Amex

Yep, booking through their hotel and flight platforms can give some big multipliers. But I had a quick look at it and they don't give the best deals...
