Finding availability from Dubai to Australia

You can search it on QF, you just need to know how to get around the bugs. Adding a stop before DXB on the multi city usually will solve the problem.

Finding availability from Dubai to Australia

Yeah this is a major bug on the website. Annoying it doesn't get fixed though selfishly it probably means fewer people redeem these seats. To fix this go to the multi-city tool and have your trip originate somewhere else - often London airports have reasonable availability, Amsterdam isn't bad...

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

One thing I don't understand - why do people who visit this thread regularly still seem to order the steak? It's very hard to get right even with the best execution (though have had good ones on SQ J and EK F before) but Qantas seem to do them particularly bad.

What happens if you tick “yes” to respiratory symptoms when you check in?

Okay John, submit your n=1 study to the New England Journal of Medicine, I’m sure they’ll be fascinated. Not sure why you’re adopting such an odd tone for a post that wasn’t addressed to you. I’m not concerned with what people do, just passing comment. If people want to wear an N95 to the...

What happens if you tick “yes” to respiratory symptoms when you check in?

If you have respiratory symptoms a properly fitted N95 should protect others around you; if you're worried about picking something up then the same applies for your personal protection. Of course on longer flights it becomes more of a challenge for eating/drinking etc but for the short domestic...

Middle East Airspace Closures [QF9 to LHR cancelled]

The arc still looks like it's going towards de-escalation. Iran really don't want a war, Israel's allies really don't want one either. Think Netanyahu and Ben Gvir could see advantages in a war but they're already on shaky terms with their allies. Granted sometimes we get war even when both...

Qantas rolls out Classic Plus Flight Rewards

Hmm...actually whilst I wouldn't redeem them I can see why some of those CR+ economy return awards might appeal to some. Bengaluru for 79k, Bali for 57k, Tokyo for 95k, LA for 92k...these are all quite competitive for flyers who don't mind sitting at the back of the plane. They're all likely...

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

Sure they're profitable (not sure how profitable they were) but Qantas extracts considerably more FF revenue per passenger than DL/UA/AA. This is from a Forbes article. It generates proportionally far more revenue than other airlines on this list if we ignore Southwest who aren't really...

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

Lots of comparisons to US airlines with major devaluations...but for those US airlines were their frequent flyer operations so profitable? QFF is a hugely profitable scheme for Qantas, for other airlines this might be a lot more marginal. There would be much less incentive to gut the program...

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

Really a lot of this hinges on what Qantas do with Classic Rewards. I'm not sure it makes much sense for them to severely curtail them. Remember QFF is a very profitable business for them, it's a very different situation to if it wasn't. We don't necessarily get a sense of that on this forum...

Up to 20,000 bonus points with Qantas Hotels & Holidays

Trying to book two rooms in one booking on Qantas Hotels, doesn't give me the option? If I book two rooms separately but both under my name, will I get the points for both bookings? Does anyone know why this property isn't attracting bonus points when I check out? I know it's a bed and...

Renewing QANTAS club membership and credit card sign-ups

If you can churn 3-4 cards a year then Points Club Plus really is a great reward for hitting the 350k point mark. It's the only scheme where you get an extra reward for already extracting good value out of the program!

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

Non flying guest access removal is perfectly fair though. Would barely impact any members and would help reduce overcrowding to the extent it did. Any Seat awards were axed 10 years ago. LTP is an addition, albeit an unachievable one! So we're left with classic seat awards being less...

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

I've only been using QFF since I moved here six years ago (and didn't use it much in first year), I don't recall that many bad "enhancements" over this time? Granted it's never been that good a program but that arguably reduces scope for things to get worse anyway. Some changes to redemption...

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

Those figures seem far too steep, they'd rule out almost all FF redemptions in Australia. Granted Qantas have one of the highest redemption rates but at 289,000 return in Qantas J or 318,000 return in partner J, this would only be worth it if the base price was $30k. This can't possibly be the...

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

There’s already a couple fewer banks offering the really large sign up bonuses I think & NAB have pushed their period out to 18 months rather than 12. So evidence of some cooling there. Whether we see more remains to be seen…

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

One reason against CC points being less is that surely it would defeat the object of the changes and make the FF program no more attractive to members anyway? If you’ve made a tier of flight rewards that’s 50% of what points + pay would be but at the same time cut the points they can earn by...

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

The house always wins on aggregate but it doesn’t beat everyone. This forum has a disproportionately high number of frequent flyer members who extract maximum value from their points. In reality the vast majority of QFF members don’t get great value from the program. Of course any changes...

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

Hopefully given interchange fees in Australia are still relatively high we'll still see decent sized bonuses. I'm not sure what proportion of our (still) generous sign up fees is down to the interchange fee factor and what proportion is down to the value that Qantas sets on the points when...

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

In order of preference, would definitely pick 2 > 3 > 1. Higher minimum spend is fine, lots of places that spend can go. Higher annual fees not ideal but would need to go up a lot for them not to be value for money. More spread out multi year sign up bonuses would really ruin the CC game.
