Card payment sucharges banned in Australia from 2026

Their tantrums are amusing, because it's basically free money that's being taken away from them, but also do they think we're completely stupid and don't know that surcharges are banned in other countries and their business hasn't collapsed there?!

New Qantas promos including double status credits (book by 3/9/25; travel 4/9/25 until 22/8/26)

The way they ran this promo has made me less interested in chasing lifetime status than I was before. It's made me realise they're experimenting with changes that make it harder to reach. Also the backflip was welcome but was handled poorly, and a bit eye-opening that they can just change the...

New Qantas promos including double status credits (book by 3/9/25; travel 4/9/25 until 22/8/26)

I wish I was able to use a competent travel agent for my business travel. Every company I've worked for we always seem to be forced to use the most incompetent ones. Amex GBT in particular was the absolute peak of uselessness and even when given exact flight details of what you wanted, they...

    NAB acquires Citibank Australia

I logged a complaint with NAB about this and asked them to explain how the new fees improve security and convenience. Several days later they sent me the following response which was quite obviously written by ChatGPT or some other AI. "The introduction of new overseas access fees on your...

New Qantas promos including double status credits (book by 3/9/25; travel 4/9/25 until 22/8/26)

I managed to get a booking created with our corporate travel agent, however they didn't add my QFF number to the booking at time of booking, I went in and added it in after. Does anyone know if that will still be ok for DSC?

New Qantas promos including double status credits (book by 3/9/25; travel 4/9/25 until 22/8/26)

Yeah but I also don't think they ever changed a promo after it already started. It's only fair if they now extend it by at least 1 day or 2 since they launched it late Wednesday night but then changed it Friday afternoon. (and for business travel we now lose another 2 days over the weekend...

New Qantas promos including double status credits (book by 3/9/25; travel 4/9/25 until 22/8/26)

Any chance you can ask them to extend the booking window now beyond 3 September?... I have some work trips in November and March that I didn't bother starting the process for when I thought the DSCs weren't going to count towards LTG. Now with the U-turn I'm interested in booking them sooner...

Card payment sucharges banned in Australia from 2026

This is exactly what needs to be banned if nothing else, when they don't tell you in advance what the surcharge amount will be and you only find out after you pay. Especially when they surcharge much more than you expect, but after you tap it's too late to avoid it. It must be so confusing for...

Card payment sucharges banned in Australia from 2026

Yep it's a bit sad that all these large businesses aren't able to negotiate better deals on their merchant fees. I guess there's no incentive for them to try, no need ask for a better deal from the bank and no need to lower those costs if you can just directly pass them on to your customers in...

Card payment sucharges banned in Australia from 2026

The last time I was in NZ I got told it was a surcharge on credit cards if you used paywave but free if you insert your card, and free to use a debit card.

Card payment sucharges banned in Australia from 2026

Widespread rorting of surcharges are surely the reason they’re getting banned. Equally I’m sure Qantas will replace it with a ‘payment processing fee’ or similar ‘booking fee’ to get around the surcharge ban. I buy airline tickets in many different countries and it’s only the Australian...

Adding 2 passports in APIS? Dual AU/US citizen flying EU->USA->Australia

I'm not sure, but I've always wondered why Australia is so interested in my other nationality and getting my other passport details in their database. The other country does not care at all and never asks to see my Australian passport (well check-in staff do look at it to confirm I don't need a...

    Qantas DSC October 2024 Offer - book by 31/10/24 & fly 1/11/24-19/10/25

My DSC also posted within a day or 2, so if you haven't got them after 2 weeks I would maybe contact the QFF email? Are you sure you're not excluded if you're based in London? Most QFF promos have T&Cs that say for AU/NZ residents only. When I was living in the US I kept my QFF address as a...

I didn't get that either, but the 10 status credits have posted today, about 4 days later.

Mine still haven't posted and we did it 3 days ago... I'm regretting not taking a screenshot of it saying I'd won them

    Qantas Points Cracker promotion

Yep I think that's right, I won 10 status credits (though they still haven't posted...) and my partner just got the standard Singapore trip prize draw entry.

UK rolling out Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA)

It's annoying, but the UK's just playing catch up. Australia has been charging Brits (and others) $20 for an ETA for over a decade.
