I got in, didn't get any errors and managed to find flights. But even with just paying the taxes, the cost was $551, which for a "free" flight wasn't worth it for me. Good luck to someone else who wants this more than me.

For those who have decided to stick with the Amex travel insurance - how are you going to "prove" your cover? A lot of places like Singapore / Malaysia have travel insurance as a requirement, but there's not actual certificate of cover provided from Amex.

At SYD right now. The House is closed, even though the sign outside says it's open. I guess Velocity Platinum isn't what it used to be. Also have access to the AMEX lounge, but that's closed. Their website says I can access the Plaza Premium Lounge, but that's closed too. McDonalds tables it is.
