    Thank you for your loyalty

Qf getting plenty of value from the IT work experience kids: Ms Basalt has a points balance of 6156 consisting of 1556 existing points + 5000 gift points, however when attempting to transfer to me:

New Qantas promos including double status credits (book by 3/9/25; travel 4/9/25 until 22/8/26)

Not at all surprised by the backlash and turnaround - given frequent flyers are, actually, frequent flyers, a significant percentage of QFF'ers would not receive any benefit at all from the 'thank you' SC's. This would include those who already had their status assured for their next status year...

New Qantas promos including double status credits (book by 3/9/25; travel 4/9/25 until 22/8/26)

Ditto for me and Ms Basalt. The 150 'gift' SC's are going straight to the pool room as there's no room left where I've shoved all the other enhancements from AJ and VH.

Dear Qantas: It’s Not Me, It’s You (A220s, Lounges, Curry, and Other Adventures)

Totally agree! Travelling to Bris from Mel for business means maximising time in the Bris office to make the trip worthwhile, which means arriving at BNE after 5pm. Clearly the premium entry is not geared towards the business traveller

Article: Should Qantas Have a Minimum Reward Seat Guarantee?

Yes, 100%! The primary driver to make QFF gold for us many years ago was because it was common to see classic award availability release at 353 days. We're now platinum and that feels as useful as silver was back then. Classic award plus is such deplorable value for our main destinations - so...

    Qantas A380 New Route Speculation

I'll bite...I'd be thinking maximizing their use by using them on seasonal routes, starting with MEL-CTS for December to April

Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

Quick Q - does a QF domestic segment count for the rule of Qantas plus at least 2 oneworld carriers, or does the QF segment have to be international? Or am I reading "other than Qantas" wrong, and you don't have to include QF?

    Creative Routes Sydney to London

How about SYD-YVR on QF, then YVR-CDG on AF, then the Chunnel to London? Avoids transiting LHR. The AF flight can be had using QFF points - we did this in January when we went skiing in Italy - MEL-SYD-YVR-CDG (all in J award) then fast train to Geneva. Do an overnighter in Vancouver. The...

    QantasLink Airbus A220 Discussion

I put my Bose NC headphones on the second I sit down, so was blissfully unaware of that noise! Forgot to add it was nice to see wine served in Y on an early afternoon flight, wasn’t expecting that so we’d fully taken advantage of the J lounge bar though 😎

    QantasLink Airbus A220 Discussion

We just took our first A220 flight this arvo - QF1257 BNE-MEL. Ms Basalt was very underwhelmed by the no-recline seat! I like the handy smartphone shelf and the USB-C port is nice to see, though at 60w, it's short of the business standard of 65w (e.g. Surface Pro and a whole bunch of Dell and HP...

    Qantas Trans Tasman Pretend IFE

We encountered this on our BNE-MEL flight last week (737 of course). Very annoying, as johndoe noted the bulk of the material was only available via BYOD with the exception of premiere. The A321XLR replacements can't come soon enough!

Qantas Increases Legroom Charges; Changes to Row 4 selection on most 737 flights

Yeh, nah....a larger share of nothing is still nothing!

Qantas Increases Legroom Charges; Changes to Row 4 selection on most 737 flights

100% agree. We're getting more and more p*#@ed off with Q. We're both WP, currently in the LTS twilight zone, and have heavily leaned on T-80 row 4 access a lot. Just another incentive to jump ship once we're LTG. WP/SG is now pretty much useless except for lounge access. The complete lack of...

    Jury Duty

Wasn't shirking in either of my call ups, no prosecutor wants a firefighter on an arson panel, and offered to postpone second time, but was effectively told no. I suspect I may have actually sounded keen to do it and that dissuaded the JD coordinator from giving me another bash.

    Jury Duty

You need to match your bias to the case during the preselection. I got called up, went to preselection and it was an arson case. Said I was a volunteer fire-fighter and might be prejudiced, received an instant see ya. Second time I got called up, phoned in before hand and said happy to do duty...

Double Status Credits promotion (Book by 27/2/24, travel 28/2/24-14/2/25)

AFF threads are so predictable - does this mean the forum has evolved into a large language model AI? :-D

Heavy duty padlocks in cabin baggage

Yep, fair cop with the occy strap, if I worked in security I wouldn't let that through either! My wife forgot to take a Swiss army knife out of her handbag once, so when that was found, rather than throw it out, she popped outside and buried it under a rock in the airport grounds. On her return...

Double Status Credits promotion (Book by 27/2/24, travel 28/2/24-14/2/25)

It does say 'within 8 weeks' though they usually arrive soon after the flight. Last two DSC promos I received every DSC the day after the flight. Several of the promos before covid the DSC dropped randomly between 1 and 3 days after the flight for me.
