Any way to cancel amex online?

That's weird mate. It's on mine.

Reduced AMEX earn rates from April 2019

I'm not sure I understand this whole thing of people cancelling their cards. I get it that the points become effectively halved for those who can't get the doubling thing but why cancel? I've got the explorer and I'll still get 1ppd for KF yeah? Unless I sign up to the Citi prestige card, which...

Reduced annual fees and rewards coming soon...

Amex Explorer for me too, and Virgin money flyer card (only coz it's free). I've only got the BPAY 75c to pay on my statement. Need to figure how to pay it without incurring another damn fee.

Reduced annual fees and rewards coming soon...

Yep I agree, got my bad news letter today too. One more statement and I'm done. I need to stop by the 13th May so I get the points for this month on the 13th June and just make the transfer to SPG by 2 days before devaluation. The MC is down to 0.3ppd transfer to SPG. I can buy SPG points...

    Diners Travel Insurance

That's just it, I was calling the insurer themselves, Allianz Global Insurance, but if I buy the policy through say Virgin Money (which is the same insurer) then I am covered.

    Diners Travel Insurance

Ok so I had a bit of an altercation with the CSR about travel insurance. I had purchased points and then redeemed them for a trip to Japan next month. When I asked if the flights would be covered, she told me that because the flights were done with points and I hadn't paid for the ticket that NO...

Virgin Money credit cards (linked to Velocity rewards)

I'd be very interested to know which one you end up with. Being a staffie, they give me the card for free so I guess I can't complain too much about it. I don't really spend much on gov spending, and evrything I can I put into the Amex. It's getting tougher on this points thing that's for sure.

    Diners-ropey start

So has anyone made progress with a card to compliment the Amex? I've applied for the Virgin Money Flyer but it comes with DC service...not again! :( Its been a week since I've applied to find out whether a response will be given to me. I'm seriously already considering cancelling the card and...

    Diners-ropey start

That's my thinking. My Amex will be working overtime so it'll only be $40 here or $50 there, so it won't be too bad if I go the lower option. Plus, looking to buy property in the future, I don't want to have a minimum $16k on that card and $20k on my Amex, I'll never be able to get approved for...

    Diners-ropey start

Given I find that I use VA more than QF and that I can basically get a VA J seat at any time I'm looking at the Velocity Flyer Card (yes the one from Citi). This card has unchanged points from the latest deval and only $129/yr with 0.66 ppd which is what we get from Diners currently. Happy to...

    Diners-ropey start

Just got approved within minutes! Got Mrs Keftetha on the card too and they doubled my limit without me asking for it compared to Diners! I think I'm going to like this Amex thing.

    Diners-ropey start

Ahhh perfect! Thanks heaps! So if you hold both then do you use the edge for supermarket/gift cards and then explorer for everything else?

    Diners-ropey start

I know this probably belongs in the Amex forum but I'm going to throw it out here anyway seeing as it's a decision amongst Diners members, but I'm confused between the plat edge and the explorer. Plat edge has different points collected depending if you shop at supermarkets etc, but the explorer...

    Diners-ropey start

Amex is the only one offering SPG now which will be my go to card. As others have posted, now to find a good Visa/MC to go with it! My statement finishes on the 13th of the month so hopefully I can get in before the June 15 cutoff. Hopefully they post on the 14th June and I can still get them...

Alaskan stopovers outside originating from US

I agree that they should note it on the website. Sorry to hear of your unsuccessful attempt. Thanks for keeping us informed though.

Alaskan stopovers outside originating from US

That's right they don't. Sorry I should have mentioned that. I'm actually flying back in J with QF now. I'll just utilise CX next year. Have fun on your extended layover. Let me know if you manage to get a stopover through HKG.

Alaskan stopovers outside originating from US

Thanks so much for the reply andy2015. As it happens, everything happens for a reason. The day I got told no, AA brought out their mileage sale so I was able to secure that trip for even less! I'll be keeping it in mind for the next trip though. Hope you have better luck than I did.

Alaskan stopovers outside originating from US

Hi all, So I just got off the phone from an AS rep who told me that my stopover via HKG would not be possible. I'm trying to get NRT-HKG-SYD and she's telling me that because the flight is not originating or ending up in the US, I can't add a stopover and therefore need to pay for 2 sectors...

    New Diners Rewards interface

Yep, not working here also. More website upgrades? They seem to be doing it a lot lately with very little change if any in both interaction and looks.

    Is DC annual fee negotiable?

Ok thanks. Glad to know it's not just me. Last transaction I can see is from the 28th Sep just FYI.
