    J Lounge Melbourne Good News

I read a post some time back that someone was doing QF online check-in , then editing the image to place "Platinum" status on it. They can then print and use that to gain access to the lounge. Pretty silly thing to do in my opinion as it's actually fraud. Pretty big risk to take for a free beer.

    Qantas double SCs

Hi Guys, 1) I think you'll find that clicking on the link only re-verifies the person who originally got the email. The link contains a long hash code which no doubt identifies the recipient. 2) They actually say that it is only valid for the person who receives it. This would verify the point...

    Qantas Status credits

Welcome Pinehart! As someone else mentioned. If you don't travel much, Silver is the Holy Grail. Especially for the check-in advantage. Sure, you won't have the benefits of the Gold / Platinum guys with free lounge access but it's still a good thing. Again, as mentioned above, I wouldn't spend...

Criminal record and obtaining a US visa

Have to concur with this. Friend spoke with the US Embassy information staff regarding a low range PCA charge that was Dismissed under Section 10 in NSW. [i.e. Arrest, a finding of guilt, but no conviction recorded]. Friend applied for and received a US Visa quickly. 5 years later, he found out...

NRMA no longer accepts AMEX cards

I just cancelled both our policies with NRMA and started new ones with GIO. The exact same coverage but cheaper. $3 fee for by the month payment which is fine by me. When I called to cancel the guy asked: "Can I ask why you are cancelling your policies?" Me: "You have ceased accepting...

QF: All flights into and out of Sydney cancelled due to fog

sTake-Off isn't as restrictive (weather wise) as landing. Many problems on the network come about because the aircraft scheduled to takeoff for your flight cannot land due to the reduced visibility. To the poster (sorry can't remember your name and can't see it in an edit_ referring to CAT I...

QF Engineer "Go Slow" / Industrial Action

So they claim they want industrial action so that they can earn money and spend time with their family.... Yet they are reducing the amount of time I spend with my family because I'm being delayed on regular business flights... Can I block the staff carpark to stop them leaving??

QF Platinum FF - QF Club Access

Thanks Mal. I'm about to get Plat., and was worried the policy was changed. Perhaps the new policy is "Don't tell new Plat. people" however still allow it? Or perhaps they don't let you know in the new Gold pamphlet sent out so you don't thing "That's not fair" .. <Shug> Don't know. Thanks...

QF Platinum FF - QF Club Access

I seem to remember that QF Platinum Frequent Flyers were granted access to the club at anytime regardless of whether travelling or not. I can't seem to find anything about this in the current lit. sent out by QF. Can you still (could you ever) enter the QC as a QF Plat FF, without a QF...

Qantas takeover may result in Frequent Flyer scheme sell-off

I thought this required a thread seperate to the QF Takeover bid one. Fin Review mentions that the acquirers of Qantas could "sell-off" the Frequent Flyer scheme to make a quick buck. How would that work?

    "The Real Reason for Jetstar"

Well I'm not sure about you, but I don't think it's the best idea to hire a Cessna pilot because your 747 pilot with 20 years experience left to fly with United Airlines because they pay twice as much. (probably have to pay less tax too in the US!) Yes there is a shortage of software...

Report on JQ Evacuation at HBT May 2005

Call me a synic but wouldn't that result in an increase in ticket prices??? Higher trained crews cost more... no doubts they'd pass the cost on.

Virgin Blue Business Class and Velocity Tier Levels

I actually complained to Qantas about this. It was disgraceful! I need binoculars to see the TV and the seats were aweful. I told QF I would change my bookings across from SYD-PER to go via MLB if I had to, just to avoid the SYD-PER A330. shocking... It's a shame Business Class is heading...

    "The Real Reason for Jetstar"

I'm not sure what the pay discrepancies between Qantas and Jetstar staff are (from what I've heard they are in the order of $50 to $100K for the captain) - but if they are of a reasonable size, surely that means you get lower quality people? I know where I work , we've had tremendous trouble...
