    Ask The Pilot

Gidday all! Noticed while round the back of a 380 the rudder is split. Is this a redundancy feature or do both parts work in tandem or together but in varying ratios? Thanks in advance...

Spend your winter in Harbin Ice and Snow World?

Visas are (usually) quite easy to get for China. You just have to go to the Chinese Visa Application Service office in your city and shell out a few $$$$.

    Ask The Pilot

G'day all. I know that most airlines don't like pregnant women from flying near 'birthing' time but I was wondering how place of birth and citizenship are determined? Also, is it something that is covered in training? From what I can glean, carriers have different methods of classifying the...

Best hotels in SIN and HKG for AUD200

Gidday Kolo, last time I was in HK I stayed at the Dorsett in Mongkok. Clean, modern rooms (but quite small- ok if you're out & about most of the day) and a smart clean feel to the lobby area. It's possible to walk into downtown HK or cab it for a few $$. Best of all and depending on time of...

Noticed a few (4) Google Baloons floating by.... Given that they're relatively high (62000' according to flightradar24) would they be a feature of any NOTAMS for flights that would pass nearby? For more info Google 'Project Loon'

Old and New England with Scotland. The cripples on tour.

Many years ago I won a competition in London for my father & I to experience the famous Highland Games in Braemar as guests of Glenfiddich. I remember the drive from Aberdeen to Braemar well- SO beautiful, so I read your report with more than just a tinge of envy :). I also remember the...

Thanks for the great (ongoing) report drron!! When I saw the 1 'o' clock gun it reminded of the noon day gun I used to hear in Cape Town which still fires to this day. A quick question: do you travel with the title of Dr. on your boarding passes etc? A family member who was a Dr. always used to...

CHINA- if you want to change lanes, indicate and muscle your way in. If you wait, you'll be waiting forever. Also, the Chinese use the horn a lot!! I used to think it was because I was doing something wrong but they use it to say 'Hey, I'm changing lanes/ close alongside you/ behind you/ I'm...

    pointless duty free

Based in the US. All of the fragrances I've bought (TTBOMK) are genuine. I don't use them much so they sit in the walk in robe for a while and don't lose their fragrance a la the knock-offs. Don't worry, I would n't suggest a dodgy retailer, but I understand your concern. Human wee? Eeeeeww!!!!

kirsty, I'm yet to find a store that does cheaper prices than fragrancex. (Some Chemist chains here in Oz do have amazing sale-deals tho) Look them up online and compare prices. Also, you can get an email alert for out of stock items. Good luck!
