    Diners club companion card

I joined 13 years ago. As I mentioned in my previous response - no one is fooling anyone by trying to mask the name of the Bank or product. The product teams at the Banks can and do access this board. It's public and thats the point. Its well established that trying to compare FX rates...

    Diners club companion card

Codenames? No - I wont be playing games like that mainly because you aren't fooling anyone by trying to mask the name of Bank. That is utterly ridiculous.

    Diners club companion card

Easy there cowboy. Lets just take a step back. The original post asked if Diners were dodgy and there was reference to skimming and stealing. If the questions weren't meant to be taken literally why were they asked? 1) BWA is Bank West - not West of Australia Bank 2) MC does swap thru USD 3)...

    Diners club companion card

Is Diners dodgy? Of course not. Fluctuations in currency that work against you are not "stolen" funds nor are they "skimming". Yes there is a spread however this is the case with all cards. The exchange rates for BWA will be different to Diners and most likely (and this is only a guess)...

Another one bites the dust, Amex dumped by CBA

Signing up for new cards and flipping them is going to earn the normal spender more than annual spend will anyway. CBA were never very generous with sign on bonuses - in fact I don't remember ever seeing one. Given that they are the largest card issuer in the country (by a significant margin)...

    Citi cards - major changes

What competition? All cards businesses have the same costs and revenue issues. Have you noticed that all the Bank's products are essentially the same except for sign on bonuses and couple of other things. Theres a reason for that.

Another one bites the dust, Amex dumped by CBA

There are other revenue streams to consider. AMEX is also a different product with different features such as lounge access, insurance and service etc. Clearly this is not valued when you reduce the products to commodities hence the dumping of AMEX. Badly sold by AMEX.

Another one bites the dust, Amex dumped by CBA

I agree with you that AMEX is gorgeous but Im not sure what this has to do with the discussion. ApplePay is a different discussion entirely. There is no benefit to CBA to pay Apple the fee that they want. Apple should be paying CBA a fee not the other way around given that Apple will get all...

Another one bites the dust, Amex dumped by CBA

If anyone could have made it work it would have been CBA. They gave up too easily. AMEX clearly didn't do a very good sales job with the Banks.

Westpac dumps AMEX - changes points earn on MC

An issuer generates revenue and possibly profit but definitely not wealth. Perhaps you can explain how wealth is generated by a CC?

Westpac dumps AMEX - changes points earn on MC

Im not sure how a credit card can generate wealth. Its a payment method. Issuers do not make money from "transactors". A transactor is someone who pays off their debt in full every month.

Westpac dumps AMEX - changes points earn on MC

It sounds like you are referring to the credit card issuer which is the Bank which in this case is Westpac. In other words, the Bank owns the customer relationship and are the issuer of the card. The Bank is carrying the credit risk. I think you have just made my point again and changed the...

Westpac dumps AMEX - changes points earn on MC

Not quite sure what you mean here. There are only a handful of card issuers in the country. 70% of the market is owned by the big 4 plus Citibank and they are profitable so there's that. You may be referring to credit limit utilisation. This is the amount of credit utilised as a percentage of...

Westpac dumps AMEX - changes points earn on MC

OK - Thats not what you said. You said that Westpac was going to put you through hell with having to change your recurring payments. That doesn't seem align with your assertion around meekness with Banking products. It would seem that a more stable Banking product such as a Bank account direct...

Westpac dumps AMEX - changes points earn on MC

Customers are great - providing they are profitable. If customers aren't profitable then they are an unnecessary cost that needs to be managed out.

Westpac dumps AMEX - changes points earn on MC

Its worth maintaining some perspective regarding changing recurring payments. A recurring payment change is common as your card expires periodically and needs to be updated at some point anyway. If this is hell for you then perhaps using a direct debit from a Bank account would be easier to...

Westpac dumps AMEX - changes points earn on MC

As long as customers are making the Bank money then thats great. Unprofitable customers or unsuitable customers are exited all the time from the Business and Corporate Bank. Retail is no different. Banks change their strategy and products all the time and some customers no longer fit that...
