    BNE new runway - updates

Dependent arrivals must be staggered; independent departures can be side-by-side.

    BNE new runway - updates

There are many variables that will determine whether or not an aircraft is able to use the new runway. If the aircraft is unable (as opposed to it being inconvenient) the pilot will be authorised to use the old runway.

    BNE new runway - updates

Actually it's the other way around - the arrivals have been staggered but the departures have been side-by-side. Many aircraft can't use the new runway because the taxi time is too long or their electronic databases don't yet include it, and the new runway won't be used after 10 pm by any aircraft.

Virgin Australia to be sold to Bain Capital

Yes VA were still paying leases for the E190s stored in Mojave and the ATRs stored in Nelson. And at the same time paying Alliance (20% owned by QF) to fly in their place.

Virgin Australia Financially Secure? [Now in Voluntary Administration]

And what unspeakable militancy have the FAAA, VIPA or AFAP undertaken? The MUA doesn't represent VA workers. Edit: Will add that most unions in Australian aviation are also professional associations. Members contribute to things like advocating for the 1:36 rule, ensuring there's an FA at every...

No problems. Happy to clear up that "I got bullied to join a union in 1986" is completely irelevant to union members in 2020

...just wondering if any of you are talking about an experience from less than 20 years ago.

Virgin Australia Financially Secure? [Now in Voluntary Administration]

The concessions that many unions have made during COVID have been plentiful and reasonable, leading to all the talk of a "new accord", but AFF's the natural home of the boomer liberalism set, so it's not that surprising to see contempt for the filthy riff raff flying planes, loading bags...

The workers are only banding together because of devious means, and they have no right to question any aspect of the job that they'll be lucky to receive if I so chose, even if they're legally entitled to be a part of the process... Thanks for reminding me why it was so important to join my union!

VA no longer issuing credits to travelbank (or anywhere else)

An update on my refund adventures: After three unanswered emails to VA, I re-activated my Amex dispute and it was declined within 48 hours. I called Amex and asked why, given VA's own letter to Amex in response to my dispute showed that my freedom fare was entitled to a cash refund, and was...

VA no longer issuing credits to travelbank (or anywhere else)

The VA correspondence seems to be a carefully worded mix of fare rules and consumer law, although it doesn't really make sense when you think about it. They say my fare was refundable to the original form of payment or travel credit, and who says that it's me who gets to chose which one VA give...

Virgin Australia's Manila call centre closed [expect longer delays]

Lucky! I just spent 1 hr 20 mins on hold, got through, then was put on hold while my details were confirmed and got disconnected 😢 I'm trying again because now the whole experience has become hilarious

VA no longer issuing credits to travelbank (or anywhere else)

I submitted another request for a refund to VA via their website. In addition to this ~$3000 they also have another ~$2000 of my money legitimately locked up in travel credits, so I'm trying to tread lightly. Update: Looking at VA's correspondence with Amex, it appears that they justify denying...

VA no longer issuing credits to travelbank (or anywhere else)

I'm in an identical situation. The Amex agent told me VA's correspondence was that I was only entitled to a credit, and I could re-dispute but nothing would change.

Haha Dutton Derangement Syndrome? Maybe. I guess voting Liberal doesn't necessarily disqualify one 🙃 But we're getting way off topic.

You have to present something much better. And I don't think that can be done in a financially viable manner in this country and in this climate. I thought VA should've introduced basic economy pre-COVID-19 but now a once-failed airline that's QF+ up front and TT- down back is an even more...

Virgin Australia Financially Secure? [Now in Voluntary Administration]

Haven't the last 8 years taught us that the corporates that matter are wedded to QFF and won't fly on something similar or even slightly better? A VA that's less convenient and less comfortable than before, but priced above the JQ fares that earn QFF points... won't we be back here again in 10...

Legality [of Airports Blocking VA liveried Aircraft]

The lien on Compass aircraft was by the ATC provider, which has a specifically legislated right to liens to recover airways charges.

I have just under the maximum value that's allowed in my VA travel bank, so not as brave as you might think.

I think I read in this thread that VA has $1.2 B in unused bookings, so leave the poor bond holders alone and just ask everybody holding a VA ticket or travel bank to double their investment if they want to ever see their money again :p
