Virgin Australia introduces baggage tracking (selected routes)

Different model to BA. If these are handed out like lollies the same way Qantas did to VIPs, not only would there be savings on expensive non recyclable labels, but theoretically tracking would be more reliable, especially if there is rfid tracking. Win win.

Virgin Australia introduces baggage tracking (selected routes)

I wish Virgin would get Bagtags. It would make the Qantas RFID discs arcane in comparison.

Changes to Jetstar check in time closure (now earlier)

Airlines should get together to rollout contact less Checkin technology using common RFID tag with LED Display like is being rolled out with many airlines. Walk up, dump bag with tag. For international this would also speed things up when you still need a human in the loop.

ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

I do. It's annoying that HSBC say the card is Australian issued. I've had a few challenges with it - Beem won't recognise it either.

Article: Where Does Qantas Fly the Embraer E190?

I loved these planes when Virgin flew them too. It's an interesting investment by Alliance though. If Qantas will start replacing them with A220s next year, where will the planes be redirected too? Will Virgin start contracting them, or could we see Alliance opening other routes. It would be...

BAGTAG - How much easier to check-in does this look?

The video on the BAGTAG site suggests it cannot be reused. On soft bags - Backplate screwed into fabric with and then attached via 3M sticky stuff, and attached via 3M double sided tape onto hard bags. It can also be used on bagstraps, where the strap is surrounded. The BA version attaches to...

I'm doing a similar trip this December with my family of four - fly into YUL on 14 Dec, then make our way down to Toronto a few days later to see friends, then head over to Syracuse to catch up my wife's friend from boarding school. My wife would like to see Niagara Falls, then keep going on...

Booking codeshare Qantas flights in america

I have an Open Jaw flight booked CBR-YUL, SJC-CBR, and decided to arrange internal flights under my own steam. I've seen on Skyscanner internal flights in America flying Qantas (combined with BA) using American metal. I am curious if the baggage benefits of flying Qantas follow through? (ie free...

    Vist North America Pass (AA)

I've just had an informed voicemail from American Airlines, and the Visit North America Pass product was discontinued on 1 January 2019. "Please contact us if you would like to make changes to your booking." Case closed. I'll probably just fly Southwest instead.

    Vist North America Pass (AA)

Hi I've been looking to see if the OneWorld Visit North America Pass with AA still exists for flights I'm undertaking at the end of the year with my family with AA. I'm looking to see if it is an option for internal flights, and whether it offers value for money. Conventional wisdom is they...

Debit or Travel Cards with points and Osko

I am following in the path of the Barefoot Investor, who suggests following the Teutonic approach, ditching credit cards, and moving to cash. Anyway, I am looking for a debit card or travel card with points and Osko/New Payments Platform refills (aka one minute topups). I have checked QANTAS...

    Windowless cabin proposal for Emirates

I agree with the sentiment having worked in a hospital that ran Windows 95 on the display for the lifts in the late 90s:eek: However, I would hope that Emirates, and for that matter, Airbus, Boeing, Embraer, Bombardier et al look at Blackberry QNX (the OS used in Ford Sync 3 and other modern Car...

Famous people seen (or even met) whilst flying or lounging

Pauline Hanson back in August flying Cattle Class to Senate School on Virgin caused quite a stir. The media were there at CBR. I had to refrain from asking her noting her views on Halal, which allows the consumption of crustaceans and camels, we should go back to following Leviticus word for...

    VA wishlist. Time for.....

Not that I fly much now as I have no reason to leave Canberra except for holidays. When I travelled lots last year, I always preferred Expedia to book over the Virgin website for this reason.

Murray's Bus Transfer to Sydney Domestic

Mother-in-law checked in at the International Transfer desk using her QFF card, having already checked-in with her mobile. No quibbles mentioned, and the bus took her from T1 to T3 with no fees involved. Good to know for future reference, although getting back in the other direction will...
