On a different topic, is there any other airline that upgrades staff before passengers. On a recent flight I asked for points upgrade in the lounge (from flexi) and was told no seats available. 50% of business seats were staff in uniform.

I replaced my Platinum card with a cheaper QF Ultimate and have earned more points with no loss of usable benefits. I already had a corporate travel policy and an Accor Advantage plus card. So far at least 100,000 points in front.

My iPad app crashed twice today and it sent an email to Taptalk. I'm planning to try downloading it again before I give up.

Try flying ADL-JFK on QF. Last time I looked it was cheaper to go on EKs 777 to Dubai and then 380 to NYC.

Maybe JQ is expanding capacity as a first step to adding J class to domestic flights. That would allow them to compete with VA operating costs.

I downgraded to Gold, same attitude, no real interest (and I spent more than $150K last year). Westpac offered first year free on Earth card - same points.

I did a couple of sectors to non QF ports last week and one flight was great - the other forgettable (both J class). Most of my colleagues have already returned to Qantas. One quit this week after being put through to the VA Asian call centre.

I did the same flight recently. Ordered a meal in the F lounge at 16:30 and went to Business lounge at 17:30. Bus lounge closed at about 18:00. Luckily the JQ flight was on time.

I decided not to renew Amex Plat, but to downgrade to Gold. We have an annual corporate travel policy and I get better QF points using a Qantas Ultimate card. I'm also Platinum with Qantas. I haven't used the free flight for years because it's too restrictive.Am I missing anything.

I'm a VA platinum who phoned (because I could not achieve what I wanted on the website) and then got the Philippines. I still did not get a satisfactory result. Bye, bye VA.

Just returned from NYC and this time I bought a cheap AT&T GoPhone (Galaxy) as I will be there several times in the next year. $60 month for unlimited calls and 2GB data worked well. I keep the number and just buy a month at a time when needed. It's a good deal (for my purposes) for the LTE data.
