Lounge and other benefits for additional pax on CX

Just thought I'd dig up this thread up post-experience. I was exhausted when I checked in and the check in girl realised I was with 1 extra passenger and, perhaps taking pity on my obvious state of disarray, called through to the lounge and organised for me to take them in. At HKG there was only...

Routes selling First as Business, Business as Premium

Ok thanks. So I spose this would be a newly refitted 747 on that route?

Routes selling First as Business, Business as Premium

Wow, you don't miss a thing. However I'm confused, the seat map says rows 3 and 4 are 6 abreast, see this image. I can't find a seat map on Qantas that matches?

Routes selling First as Business, Business as Premium

Hi all - dragging this thread out of the darkness to pose a related question. I have the option between January travel from Melbourne on Qantas QF21/22 (dep Syd) or Cathay Pacific (dep Mel via HKG) in business. Status/points are not important here, and price is the same. Expertflyer is showing...

    Velocity points earn on Singapore

Am planning to fly to Tokyo and back in January in Business. Anyone have any insight into when Virgin will announce the points earn rates for Singapore Air? Or is this still a "how long is a piece of string" question? As I understand it the partnership in its entirety, whilst still in process...

Routes selling First as Business, Business as Premium

Ok, alternatively, which (if any) routes are operating dedicated 3 class config 747 i.e. no first seats. Looks like QF7/QF9 and also QF20/QF21 from what I'm reading elsewhere, are flying 4 class 747s with 3 class ticketing. Not worried about guarantees, more just wondering if I flew in J would...

Routes selling First as Business, Business as Premium

Anyone have a list of routes on which Qantas sells First as Business, Business as Premium (i.e. where you can select seats from the cabin class above)? Does this only happen on routes where First is not sold, or does it happen on these routes as well?

Lounge and other benefits for additional pax on CX

Thanks for that thewinchester. Does anyone know how firm Cathay Pacific is with its lounge access? My experience with Qantas has been that if you have a reasonable justification (i.e. you're not just travelling with 10 mates in economy) you call them in advance, or even ask politely, they...

Lounge and other benefits for additional pax on CX

I am planning on travelling with 2 colleagues on Cathay Pacific. I am OW Sapphire (QF Gold) and will be ticketed in Business, they have no status and will be ticketed in Economy. This means I'd only be able to take 1 person in with me to the lounge. I emailed and spoke with Cathay Pacific to see...

3 days between status upgrade and international flight

There's no way I'd burn 48k minimum points (Syd Adl JASA) just to get Silver. I don't know if you're doing exclusively international flying but business check in for Silver is only available for international flights, not domestic.

Cathay Pacific specific aircraft seating types

Excellent, that is exactly what I needed. Specifically "Do not be fooled! Do not post a new thread asking whether it is a regional 773 or a long haul 77A/77D! All Long Haul zoned destinations are served by Long Haul aircraft!" So I am a solid bet for a decent (older) herringbone J product to...

Cathay Pacific specific aircraft seating types

Hmm, maybe this is a mistake from my end. The example I have is CX134 MEL>HKG says 330. 330 seems to be "regional product" - why would this be flying out of Melbourne? So I assumed that it was simply listing aircraft type, not configuration.

Cathay Pacific specific aircraft seating types

I know this isn't a Qantas enquiry, but I hope the respective admins will forgive me this one time - they are at least a OW member (and I'm flying them in lieu of Q!). Does anyone have any advice on how I can determine the specific seating maps for flight bookings with CX prior to making the...

J-Lounge Access for connecting Qantaslink flight

My experience is that if all flights are on the same itinerary then your larger allowance will take precedence - I would call Qantas to confirm though. I think there is no harm in asking for J lounge access, although if your onward ticket is discount economy they might not be so excited by the idea.

    Status Credit Query

You will retain until 2013. In answer to your specific question, those credits would have to be earned in the next member year to go towards retaining Silver. The points you earn in your current member year (ending 28 Feb 2012) will go towards Gold. If you earn 700+ then you will get Gold...

FAs permitting economy PAX to use PE after takeoff

Passenger who is medically distressed perhaps? Emergency in the coughpit requiring the hatch to remain open? My understanding is that they only OPEN the curtain in an emergency (and arrival/departure).

FAs permitting economy PAX to use PE after takeoff

I have only a single experience of this and that was flying Pacific Blue from Densepar to Melbourne. Aircraft was near empty, 1 passenger in PE (I was in Y). After take off the FA came over the PA and said very clearly feel free to move to any seat in the plane (there was enough free seating to...

    International Business - Qantas uncompetitive?

I don't know how to tell, I thought I was in J. In any case it doesn't matter - if I really wanted the upgrade I would of just called, I knew my ticket was upgradeable but was hoping for an unlikely opup. One thing I also didn't mention was that BA's domestic/euro business product was appalling...
