I rang Qantas to get my PNR when I booked my flight from SYD to NY last month (thanks to the advice of the forum) and the Customer Rep did the seat allocation for me for the AA flight over the phone.

I got onto checkmytrip.com and have now been able to view my seat allocation on AA. Seats allocated are good..... I didn't know about this website - good to know. Thanks
