QF leaves bags in DFW to make BNE on 1 tank

No, but they've chosen to dump the SFO route in favour of DFW direct, and if weather is already causing them to divert an inbound plane to Houston, and offload cartons of baggage on an outbound flight, it just seems to me that they're operating a service with fuel margins that are too tight. I...

QF leaves bags in DFW to make BNE on 1 tank

Yeah, but you're only looking at the "small picture" of what options they had when it came to the crunch of realising the flight was overloaded. They could have not fully booked the flight, if the a full plane-load of passengers and their luggage isn't going to leave enough margin in the fuel...

Qantas Airways Ltd. is revamping business-class services

Also, the other thing I notice is that the hours during which they serve the hot food are very limited...! It's only between 6 - 7pm or something (just like the extremely limited timeslot during which they serve dinner on their planes now....)

Qantas Airways Ltd. is revamping business-class services

I know!!! That is EXACTLY what it is like, isn't it. The thing is, Qantas quite obviously has a very strict limit on how much food it wants to supply to the Qantas Club guests -- even though there is clearly an over-demand on the food. Admittedly though, Qantas has MUCH better food than many...

Qantas Airways Ltd. is revamping business-class services

Interesting, it looks like the new business class is finally coming out. Qantas to launch all-new domestic business class next week - News - Australian Business Traveller Not a lot of info about what they're actually doing, but the announcement's next week so it shouldn't take long for more...

    Access to Qantas First Lounge

Yeah, I sorta wonder whether Qantas regrets ploughing all the money into the First lounge now considering there ain't gonna be a whole lot of first class flyers on their books...

What else is burning members about recent "enhancements" to QFF?

    Travelsim

There is a news story on this now linked off the ABC website with comments from the TravelSIM CEO. Certainly doesn't look good.. I am worried about my details having been leaked to a scammer too -- big identity theft risk there. TravelSIM customers scammed • News • Australian...

Qn regarding Debit Card Holds at Hotels

Yeah, some banks take 10 days to release the held amount -- it really is a problem. I'm surprised there hasn't been a solution to this industry-wide, because debit cards are so common now. As a previous poster said, some hotels will keep the details offline in trust rather than processing them...

Suggestions please - Christmas Day Lunch in SYDNEY

My two absolute favourite restaurants in Sydney: The Boathouse at Blackwattle Bay -- spectacularly good seafood. The fish pie is a particular favourite, but the blinis with caviar and wasabi as entree are scrumptious. Pilu at Freshwater (near Manly) -- outstanding degustation with...

    Thoughts on laptop storage v2

I always book a hotel with a safe in it to put my laptop in, and if I can't do that, I take my laptop everywhere with me in my backpack. A laptop (or rather, the data in it) is just too valuable to be left unattended anywhere -- even with a kensington lock, I reckon. Can't be that hard to cut...

    Access to Qantas First Lounge

WP = Wan*er platinum? That is hilarious! Does that mean people who have paid for a 'real' first class fair look down on the people who are platinum flyers...?

BOSE QC2 - damaged requires repairs

I don't think it's worth repairing a pair of QC2s when you can get QC15s (which are FAR superior) for $299 in the states. Just use a US buying service like PriceUSA and you can buy them for about a $15 fee and the cost of shipping. I am planning to do this myself :-)

San Francisco jet fly-by 'too much like September 11'

I know 9/11 was horrible -- but it is 10 years later now. I think Americans have to stop clinging to the fear. Then again, perhaps I shouldn't judge; I wasn't there when it happened...

What else is burning members about recent "enhancements" to QFF?

re: What else is burning members about recent "enhancements" to QFF? For me, one of the most annoying changes was buried deeeeeeep in the fine print -- a new $35 transfer fee for transferring points between family members. Even though this was strictly limited (once per year, per membership, I...
