Yeah, but you're only looking at the "small picture" of what options they had when it came to the crunch of realising the flight was overloaded. They could have not fully booked the flight, if the a full plane-load of passengers and their luggage isn't going to leave enough margin in the fuel...

Also, the other thing I notice is that the hours during which they serve the hot food are very limited...! It's only between 6 - 7pm or something (just like the extremely limited timeslot during which they serve dinner on their planes now....)

I know!!! That is EXACTLY what it is like, isn't it. The thing is, Qantas quite obviously has a very strict limit on how much food it wants to supply to the Qantas Club guests -- even though there is clearly an over-demand on the food. Admittedly though, Qantas has MUCH better food than many...

Yeah, some banks take 10 days to release the held amount -- it really is a problem. I'm surprised there hasn't been a solution to this industry-wide, because debit cards are so common now. As a previous poster said, some hotels will keep the details offline in trust rather than processing them...

I don't think it's worth repairing a pair of QC2s when you can get QC15s (which are FAR superior) for $299 in the states. Just use a US buying service like PriceUSA and you can buy them for about a $15 fee and the cost of shipping. I am planning to do this myself :-)
