Qantas rolls out Classic Plus Flight Rewards

Just had a look online, couldn't find the spread, but there was an opinion piece by Anthony Keane which starts off with:

Which international airline just pulled out of SA? (South Australia that is 😁)

Doesn't VA already offer a non-stop ADL-DPS? At least I'm able to book a return for later this month...

Middle East Airspace Closures [QF9 to LHR cancelled]

Just humouring the use of the great circle map (noting flights often do not follow it exactly), the OP noted the issue is that Iran may attack Israel. The route map attached appears to go very close to Israel which would be the other party in such an incident. Edit: modified “over” to “close to”

    Al Baker Is Leaving QR

Depends on what you mean by "soon". Given TK: - only have one-stop flights (via SIN) to Melbourne at the moment, - is only planning to do the same for Sydney by the end of this year - is intending to introduce non-stop flights for these two in 2026 (two years from now), and - has recently been...

    Superannuation Discussion + market volatility

If you’re interested in something like that, look into managed funds which can offer the “all in one” option. It’s less real time than ETFs, but more than super - the main thing is that the deposit and withdrawal process can take days/weeks. This is slower than the couple of days for ETF trades...

    Superannuation Discussion + market volatility

While an ETF would get you very close, it depends on how much you like your super fund's "other investments". You would also need to buy a variety of ETFs to match your super fund's balanced option - there are mixed ETFs like VDHG and DHHF but they mostly include Australian Shares, International...

Article: Loyalty Programs Creating Two Tiers of the Same Status

That's not too far away from the current model of the chain being the "brand" and the hotels being operated as franchises - e.g. Hilton, with >95% of their properties being franchised (source). It's a contributor to some of the inconsistent treatment elites get at different properties.

AA to fly BNE to DFW [confirmed]

Based on the expected arrival in dfw of 0830, you’d expect a departure maybe 1000 from BNE. So you’d need to catch the red eye from Perth to connect to this, and spend a good few hours at BNE. Edit: ET indicates 1000 departure from BNE

    Downgrading from Centurion to Platinum

yeah thats my understanding. VA plat gets you 1 yr of Hilton Diamond (no matter how long you are VA plat for) Amex Centurion gets you Hilton Diamond for as long as you are centurion (until Amex changes the rules I guess)

    Downgrading from Centurion to Platinum

You get Hilton Diamond with VA platinum, but that is a once-off redemption for life. You don't get another go when your VA Plat is renewed (or even if you go down to gold and back up to platinum).

    AFF Subscription Paused!?

Hi @admin, Thanks for the above, that is very helpful. Just to clarify it in my head, for @zig's situation: - They are currently on $25/yr Gold, expiring June 2024 - The Stripe renewal offer is $63 - This $63 is made up of $13 pro-rata refund + $50 to honour the special offer - The $13...

Invited to participate in a QF Loyalty Virtual Focus group

True - but if Qantas made it $1m though I would suggest that it would still be a pretty small pool even with cc sign up bonuses. Most of the ones I see are around the 100k mark, but maybe I’m out of the loop about the best offers these days. It would take a pretty dedicated churner to get...

Invited to participate in a QF Loyalty Virtual Focus group

I would tend to agree that giving P1 based on an earn of 1 million points per year seems a little generous, although given AA allows people to earn Executive Platinum (their top tier) with just $US200k (~$AU320k) credit card spend it might not be too wild of an idea. AA's threshold is lower than...

I believe I am on a grandfathered rate for Gold - will this go away when I renew with Stripe? I went to the link and it just shows me the current pricing structure.

Has Anyone Loaned $$ on Kiva?

Like others here, I have used Kiva for many years too. This thread has just given me a reminder to check my account and re-lend my available balance. Just checking my stats: - First loan in March 2010 - Amount lent: $4075 (over 158 loans) - Amount repaid: $3795.19 - Amount lost: $75.76 (of...

    Your longest trip point-to-point?

Did TPE-xHKG-xDXB-LHR a while back (CX-CX-BA). "Deliberately" did a long transit in DXB as we had never been before - arrived off a red-eye from HKG at 6am, and departed on a red eye the next "morning" at around 2am. Total time between TPE departure to LHR arrival was a bit over 41 hours. Felt...
