I attempted to do this two years ago in Sydney (flying to Indonesia), I had 2 x expensive bulky shoes. Very grumpy customs person who told me that I should just carry them on the plane… We eventually negotiated that I would take one of each shoe pair as carry on, and the other half of each pair...

Just read the article on platinum (great read, thanks). As for the 'free Economy X' seats, I've only flown in X 3 times, and every time I regretted it. I have found Economy X is always full, whereas the back of the plane has plenty of spare seats. e.g. flew BNE-DPS in economy X (paid for that)...

flying IN to BNE, I always choose the rear cabin seats. You can get out the back door of the plane, FAST! Sadly, MEL & SYD seem very hit & [often] miss with opening the rear door to exit.

Don't forget to factor in DEPRECIATION on the items - especially electronics! As a surprisingly nice ABF lady told me once, when I took my new $1100 phone out of country, & I asked her what to do when I came back ;-) (sorry if someone else mentioned this in an earlier thread, I got sick of...

yeah, bloody Virgin. If it's not bad enough flying BNE-DPS on a cramped old plane, you can't even drown your sorrows at the international lounge first. Yes that lounge was a bit 'basic', but still far better than airport prices outside - as I discovered recently. $19 for an atrocious burger...

I closed my ING accounts last year, after all their changes! Now with UP! (which use Wise for international transactions too), much better. Also their App is 1000 times better too. :)

"how long is a piece of string" and more importantly, how 'nice' or 'grumpy' is the officer you deal with when arguing depreciation! However, each year the ATO publishes a Tax Ruling on depreciating assets. So you could look up the effective life of XYZ item e.g. a Laptop (2 years), which means...

great review. very engaging! I got free Gold Hhonors from Virgin last year. The DT Hilton I stayed at in Chongqing - Nan'an, China was great. Lounge was great and 80% empty! Room was upgraded, and had amazing views. Different story at Hilton Garden Inn Ras Al Khaimah, where they had no record...
