Dubai stopover of 10 hours. What can we do?

It depends to some degree on which part of the EK terminal you are in. Both outbound and return I had to switch between concourses using the little train. Neither EK business lounge floors seemed very quiet, with flight announcements and other noise. Maybe I didn't find all of the features, but...

    Perth QC (QP) a joke

Rio Tinto are now placing a lot of their employees & contractors on DJ, so that should free up some space.

717 refurb - goodbye to Row 1 being one of the best Y seats in QF

The logic escapes me, unless its from a QF PR man...... Sadly its becoming the norm. I hear that some of the mining outfits are shifting pax to DJ, including Rio. That'll upset somebody.

717 refurb - goodbye to Row 1 being one of the best Y seats in QF

A number of 737 flights have been downgraded recently to QF-Stink 717s in WA. Its a comedown to fly a new 737-800 with full IFE one day and get a 717 with stuff all on the next flight. They don't seem to charge less for the lesser service either...... (plus the increased chance of off-pier parking)

Qantas / Emirates tie up (Partnership inc. Codeshare, Status)

As no doubt you are already aware, large airports look at aircraft operations as just the attraction that brings in the real business/money.

Paying premium for flights out of Australia?

My parents have been flying out here from the UK annually for the past 20 years, always J. Their UK sourced fare has been consistently less by a good margin than what I could get here. They have flown QF, SQ, BA and EK. The difference applied on all occassions. True that exchange rates have gone...

Manners, Attitude and Etiquete in Qantas Lounges

A couple of observations. One is that the sanitisation of our environment (probably combined with the increasing intrusion of plastics and other petro-chemical compounds) is leading to significant issues in regard to coping with infection and allergies. Secondly, the likelyhood of the 'pc' and...

    Letter from Alan Joyce

Hey Barney, you are the one that I want. Hoo hoo hoo! The one that I want..... hoo hoo hoo

    Letter from Alan Joyce

Barney should have put on the silly QF Skippers hat as seen in the pre-Trevolta days, as it would have limited the piss-taking in the lounge!

QF63 re-routed via Perth and delayed today due to ash cloud.

The whole thing is a very sorry joke. Nobody is going to be at risk, period. The only outside chance is QF may be up for some additional engine wear. Its a farce, Barnaby Joyce!

    Dear Mr Joyce...

Sadly I think that as with most 'Straylian on-line communities, there is a lack of spark or intelligence and most assume the QF CEO's first name is Barnaby! I thought the originator of this thread hit things very nicely on the head. It is the traditional values that are appreciated. I was...

    Retaining Qantas Platinum - Help!

Should have been more specific in my question, it was SCs that I had in mind. Does anyone have actual knowledge of Cobham?

No Redemption - Olympic Dam - Alliance Airlines?

I think you will find that the Alliance 'scheduled' flights are still effectively a BHPB controlled charter. You'll get points and SCs, but status only counts on wait listing. I'd be very suprised if you could get an awards flight, even if there was a lot of free seats.

Priority boarding on QF domestic - what is the story?

Concur Tony. My beef is two-fold, one that they are cluttering the bins and secondly the time it takes for the wowsers to take their seats after stuffing all this cough on. Going back some years I complained a number of times about who/what they were putting in the overwing exit rows; it seems...

    Retaining Qantas Platinum - Help!

Does anyone know for certain if Cobham (aka National Jet) flights earn points/credits? They have a page on their web site for claiming lost QFF points. If they do then that will help me retain my WP. I could ring them, but info from the forum may be the better source of information:lol:.

Priority boarding on QF domestic - what is the story?

At Perth I've noticed a few people pass around the queue and go to the boarding desk from the side/rear, they seemed to be allowed through. The comments about carry on bags and overhead lockers is also a pet hate of mine, I wouldn't want a totally rigid approach, but far too much stuff is being...

    NGCI & Priority Baggage

Recent experience (also fed back to QF) was that priority baggage was a joke on a recent SYD-PER leg. E-tagged Platinum came off last by a long way. No doubt it was a SYD loading issue as normally this is not an issue in PER. The only thing worse than the baggage handling was the appalling food...

Explanation of classes for my new flights

I strongly disagree on the service issue, the service is way below that of QF economy. Food was atrocious, seats felt like they were older than the visibly aged 747. An experience I shall never repeat. After the recent merger the surly staff will probably be Spanish speaking!

    Fleet Update (Qantas Group)

Does that mean the ageing 737-400s are at to be retired at last????? I've gone with DJ lately expressly because of that issue.

    AIR - A Qantas Magazine

I'd go with with that. There is nothing to appreciate on a lonely business trip more than a a new watch or a coughpy Jaguar.. But the cloud photos were very nice....
