    What frequent flyers really want?

Should have added another option to the poll: increased weight limits on bags or waived fees. Booked again a trip and typically my checked bag comes to 28-30 kg. With QF being the MSC it's never been an issue because they happily take bags up to 32 kg each. But now I'm constrained by 23 kg...

Through-check JL-JL (via HND) on separate ticket stocks?

Any experiences on through-checking from JL ticketed & operated revenue flight to QF ticketed / JL operated reward flight (separate PNR's)? If the JL check-in can check the bags through, it would remove some worry about the connection. Segment 1: Europe-HND, JL operated + ticketed revenue...

Very disappointed about Qantas FF program

It's a tricky route from QFF viewpoint. You could find e.g. these Emirates flights from Perth but the fees are astronomical. Have you possibly checked for options departing from SE Asia? Get a cheap flight to there and catch your J flight from there? It might provide more options to you.

    What frequent flyers really want?

BTW, how about better drinks when travelling at the back? An offer of J wine instead of whatever is on offer in Y?

Unnecessarily complicated loyalty program rules & features

Well, English people do have a knack for making things complicated. Sounds like the program is well on par with their inherent style... [Ducking for cover before they want to bury me for this...]

    What frequent flyers really want?

In some instances also get a vacant seat next to you for more space. In the best case, the whole row of 3 or 4 which can make a world of difference at the back of the bus long-haul.

    Short Connection in HND

HND I-I connection in 60 minutes? JL website happily suggests a 60 min connection JL48 (HEL-HND) -> JL93 (HND-GMP) but if I read the EF MCT table right, it should be 90 mins. It'll be on the same ticket but I would rather arrive earlier in the evening than wait for the next two flights ex-HND...

Qantas to Introduce Group Boarding and Bag Tracking

Same here. We had separate bookings and my companion had group 4. They were linked at the lounge and she was bumped into group 1. On the return leg, I was able to check us both in through my booking and we had the same boarding group.

Qantas to Introduce Group Boarding and Bag Tracking

I've been on QF less often recently but it's always been groups 1+2 together. On Sunday, QF478 from MEL, started with group 1 only. I arrived at the gate when the last 1's were going in and tailgated a couple who looked insta-ready with their matching bags and all. First they stopped midway...

Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk

What's the availability in PE on JL52/51 (SYD-HND and back) in June? The aircraft has the cabin but JL does not show seats available on their booking site and EF shows PE availability at zero. At the same time, some of the seats are occupied on the seat map. Can the allocation genuinely be...

Jeju Air Flight 2216 Crashes in South Korea

A question from a layman's armchair: this time (and seemingly often in comparable situations) the pilots attempt to land on the runway. What would happen if they landed on the nature strip / grassland? Wouldn't it provide a potentially softer terrain will less friction to reduce or slow the...

    Qantas 2024 review

Found it (thanks, VPS). It's been a quieter year which has been nice and I've moved more towards the BFOD. With points, in the 20% and most spending has been on upgrades.

    Qantas 2024 review

What subject line was in the email? I'm yet to get one or just didn't spot the right message in the junk box.

Qantas surveying members about spend-based status attainment

And that proxy for revenue works quite ok. It's predictable and takes into account fare types and distance (in a categorical way).

Qantas surveying members about spend-based status attainment

Moving to a spend-based status would simplify the calculation of how many SC's you'll be getting - though only when you know the price of the ticket. And might be confusing when you have various connections (e.g. QF - CX - JL flights). I'd see the current SC table a pretty useful model: it's...

Worst Domestic Qantas Lounges & What Can be Done About It?

Sparkling at the BNEd J lounge. You won't miss out on anything worthwhile if you skip this. While I wouldn't expect champagne, this could rather belong in a ZL lounge.

Sydney T3 Security Checkpoint - lost property

Welcome to AFF, Kerryww! T3 has the lost&found counter near the baggage claims. I've left stuff behind the same way and got it back from there next time I passed through. Hopefully your keys are there, too, waiting for your return.

5 status credits short for platinum renewal... any chance of Qantas 'gifting' those?

How about 5 SC? Though, best done while already roaming around. 😉

Qantas Status based Lounge Access before Fiji Airways Flights

At the end of the day, the rule is pretty straightforward: you are flying on a non-OW coded flight. It'd be similar than you rocked up with an LH ticket to ask for lounge access. To QF, it makes zero difference who sold the ticket or how you paid for it. The fact that different payment options...
