    Manila overnight transits

I've just noticed that the title of this thread refers to "Manilla". I always thought that was a town in NSW, but maybe I was wrong.

    Middle East Airspace Diversions/Cancellations

I can see my trip to Europe in May being shot down too. Perhaps better to stick to SE Asia for now. Taiwan will have its own issues given what's going on in the ME (if you know what I mean).

    Looming Jet Fuel Shortages?

Maybe. They might also be talking to their friends to the west. Mutually convenient.

    Scams like these

They don't ned to. It's all stored in your phone. That's the weak link.

    Emirates Delays/Cancellations

And you think that might be a possibility? Not in my lifetime, but that could be quite short.

Uber drivers at CNS routinely cancelling rides to manipulate surge pricing

Been there, done that. A nice rental car recovery driver stopped and took me to my accommodation, which was on his way. I wouldn't rely on it....

    Emirates Delays/Cancellations

    Probably resumed by now.

Virgin Australia’s Platinum Plus problem – and why loyalists are noticing

VA lounges generally are quite poor IMO. Too busy and not very comfortable, with the exception of OOL (and perhaps CBR). SYD, MEL et al, they're a zoo. Just my take, as a departing VA Plat, with no intention of spending a cent to retain any kind of elite status with them. As a lifetime UA Plat...

    Scams like these

I always thought that banking apps on Android were insecure, so I don't have them on my phone. It might be inconvenient at times, but I'll wear that. And I also never use public or hotel free wifi, as I've found (nearly to my cost) that scammers can be listening in to your conversations. Better...

Will you still earn/retain Velocity status beyond 2025?

    More sheer incompetence, I'd say.

    Middle East Airspace Diversions/Cancellations

I'd say you should book it. as you seem to have a high tolerance to risk.

    Middle East Airspace Diversions/Cancellations

    YES. Just look at FR24.

    Middle East Airspace Diversions/Cancellations

Etihad has just updated its cancellation policy to allow full refunds on revenue tickets issued before 29 Feb for flights up to 31 March. This brings it more into line with EK. https://www.etihad.com/en-ae/help This is good news, as it should now allow me to get a full refund for my EY...

Australian Dual Citizens Entering UK after February

Maybe so, but they (the Govt) don't care (baby out with the bath water), as the only thing they want to do is show how tough they are on immigration. Just look at the opinion polls over there and you'll get a feel for what's going on. Yes, I know.

What's your prediction on the Australian Dollar?

It's going down (for now), thankfully. The traders have seen the light....

    Western Sydney Airport (WSI) Discussion

Yes, that's fine, but what I mean is that everyone could just walk away from what they have "committed" to, if it doesn't pan out how they might have hoped. Committed in my mind suggests legally binding rather than just a proposal. There's nothing to stop these players from just walking away AFAIK.

Air NZ cutting 1100 flights due to high aviation fuel price

Sounds like an excuse for what they were already planning to do.

    Western Sydney Airport (WSI) Discussion

Sounds good, but no one is committed to putting any flights there. Seems possible that the white elephant may be getting whiter.

    What has travel taught you?

Travel has taught me to be vigilant and to expect poor service from anyone I'm dealing with in that industry. If it turns out not to be the case in a particular instance, I'm quite relieved and thank the person I'm dealing with. Of course, I don't thank bots.
