Qantas unveils the biggest changes to status in program history

That's right. I was talking about WP. Though the same math could be applied to SG. The only beneficiaries are Silver members because they never got the loyalty bonus in the first place.

Not really, because you are losing 150SCs from PCP and Green Tier.

Qantas unveils the biggest changes to status in program history

You have to earn 250SC more per year to even begin to have any excess SCs. There will be lots of people who don't fall into that category.

Qantas unveils the biggest changes to status in program history

On second read, removal of 50SC loyalty bonus and 200SC increase in WP retain requirement, means it is a 20% increase in status threshold to retain WP. An extra $1875 in cost to retain WP at $7.5/SC.

Qantas unveils the biggest changes to status in program history

Lots to digest. Removal of lower retain tier is a deval. Moving one step closer to a spend-based program with more emphasis on on-the-ground earn. QF have recognised the problem of losing members after they reach SC thresholds & LTG. Unclear if you can still earn SC on reward flights??

    AMEX rejection

So it's okay for Amex to maximise their profit but it's 'abhorrent' for churners to maximise their profit?

    AMEX rejection

Whether you like it or not, people will game systems. That is the nature of humans. You're never going to be able to stop it. Indeed, there are people gaming Amex way, way harder than Dr Ralph. They just don't disclose what they're doing in public forums.

Emirates Wolgan Valley to reopen as a Ritz-Carlton Lodge

This could be very attractive depending on points pricing. Nice to see more high end points hotels coming to Aus.

    Strategy to obtain UK Amex

If you still have an active UK bank account, I'd submit that as proof of address and an Australian bank account with any form of incoming payment. No guarantees, but you could be surprised at how lax these processes are.

Seats.aero - a useful tool for finding Qantas & Velocity reward availability

You can still use the website (rather than the app) on your phone if that makes a difference.
