Jetstar MEL-BKK in J is quite a nice PE flight at a reasonable price especially during the afternoon/evening! Wouldn't do it in economy or the night flight on the way back though.

62,500?! That is obscenely good! You need to add on the connection flight (unless flying to Scandinavia/Baltics/Poland) but that's 20k in J or 13k in Y. It obviously would allow you a stopover too under these rules. I can't see that it's letting me select MEL - BKK as a stand alone yet on...

77k Qatar Avios isn't great value for MEL - BKK J. MEL - LHR QSuites is 90k, MEL - DPS on Garuda A330 J is 40k. Can anyone search with Finnair Avios? AFAIK the different points currencies can have different pricing, eg you can't use 90k BA Avios for QSuites, you have to convert I think.

It's not random dates. I think SYD has some issues but certainly from MEL most dates outside peak dates should work pretty well. Just needs to be when the calendar opens but cancellation charges are minimal. The app isn't broken, it works very well for me. Far more user friendly than QF.

You really need to search from when the calendar opens up ie about 360 days out. Availability is pretty good then (at least to/from MEL) outside of Xmas, euro summer and easter times. Entered in LHR - MEL for 6/12/26 on the app (also use the app rather than the website) and I can see 16...

Flying EK J on QFF rewards just isn't worth it with the massive surcharges IMO. F is a different proposition altogether.

This would be odd given QR doesn't differentiate access between their two main business class lounges for any other airlines, eg BA J passengers can access both. So it makes no sense VA J passengers would be limited in their choice given the flights are on QR metal, how tight the partnership is...
