Other thing to note which is in your favour is that QF9 arrives so early. It is the first flight of the morning that doesnt arrive at T5, the next flight arriving at T3 is 30 mins after QF9, so as long as everything is ontime you'll make it as it shouldn't be busy yet if you stay airside.

Ive had snow at heathrow delay my flight overnight. Applied for EU261 and was denied as it was weather outside their control. They were however prompt in paying for another night at the hotel and meals. I think in your case a delayed incoming flight is not considered extraordinary...

I'd be surprised if QF doesnt at least have a Qantas club lounge there initially. It may also end up being the contract lounge (at least initially) for all the international airlines flying one service a day as well.

My understanding is that they will only give you SYD-SIN if they can give you the 2nd leg to LHR as well, however if you are unsuccessful on the first leg to SIN you may still receive an at the gate upgrade from SIN-LHR.

I've been on QF1 before from SYD-LHR when on one occasion QF37 was delayed by 4 hours leaving Melbourne due to a maintenance issue. They delayed the onward leg of QF1 until QF37 arrived so the transit passengers could make it, so I wouldn't be concerned with that transit time.

I think that they will only give you the first leg if they can give you both legs, but if they can't you are still eligible for just the second leg (although you may only find out at boarding via a beep at the gate).

Once you have checked in you can change your seat via the app for each segment individually and thus have different seats for each leg.

Ryanair gets all the bad wraps but I reckon its better then Easyjet & Wizz.
