Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

If looking for AY350, you might want to avoid BKK as last time I checked they were still using A330's on that route. HKG seemed pretty good for AY availability when I was booking... or if you are looking at trying products, you could try and get on JAL's 787 to HEL and then AY350 to LHR. Or...

Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

Is this a 140Y or 280J award? I would have thought you might have issues with: 14.3.5 A Classic Flight Reward Itinerary must contain no more than one departure from the city or country of first departure on that Itinerary.

    QF announce non-stop Perth-London B787 Services

QF is 90 minutes shorter overall trip. PER stopover around 2 hours. SIN stop-over is 4hours (which is still fine). Main selling points for QF are daily flights and late night arrival into Canberra which I like for jet-lag. SQ of course has A380 for some LHR-SIN leg flights and it has better...

    QF announce non-stop Perth-London B787 Services

If I was flying QF, I'd happily fly this sector eastbound from London as it connects well onto CBR bound flights and I don't think 15hrs is that bad. Towards London I'd probably prefer going via DXB as 17hrs followed by a 5am arrival doesn't appeal to me. But if the CBR-PER flight was re-timed...

    QF announce non-stop Perth-London B787 Services

Yep - so fuel prices are low and airlines respond accordingly... they go up and they re-assess things. That's what a business should be doing.

Not too many flatbed regional products out there... particularly on the European end.

    QF announce non-stop Perth-London B787 Services

Noting that Singapore will soon be restarting non-stop Singapore - New York flights with the long-range A350. So clearly they see the benefit of long-range non-stop flights too.

    QF announce non-stop Perth-London B787 Services

Re: Melbourne the latest City to get shafted by Qantas Which is all very well and good. But the market has changed from what it was like 10 & 20 years ago and probably will again in the next ten years. If QF tried to maintain market share, for the sake of maintaining market share, they would...

    QF announce non-stop Perth-London B787 Services

Re: Melbourne the latest City to get shafted by Qantas If you are looking longer term, QF has openly stated their desire is to fly east coast Australia to Europe when they are able to get a plane to do that.

    QF announce non-stop Perth-London B787 Services

Re: MEL to EU is now 2 stop? Just tried a MEL-CDG booking. Both the BA option via LHR and the EK option via DXB are available. Noting that Emirates own website is only showing availability up to 24 March at the moment...so anything beyond that on QF.com is not likely to be the complete picture

    QF announce non-stop Perth-London B787 Services

Not a like for like scenario. Air Asia X is based in KL. Hence they could hub between Europe and Australia via KL. Scoot will do the same thing with their Athens flights. If Norwegian want to fly Europe to Australia via Singapore, they would have the added costs of Singapore stop and the...

    QF announce non-stop Perth-London B787 Services

Re: QF PER LHR still not for sale Not sure what difference that makes. 25% fewer pax per slot doesn't necessarily mean 25% less revenue. There would be no point flying an A380 to ensure 25% extra capacity if you can obtain a better yield flying a 787 non-stop from PER. QF may fly this route...

    QF announce non-stop Perth-London B787 Services

Re: QF PER LHR still not for sale Yield. What destination in mainland Europe could Qantas extract sufficient yield over using the planes on a slot constrained HKG? Additionally the fleet utilization would be poor... assuming you want to go MEL-DXB-mainland Europe and meet up with QF1/2 in DXB...

    QF announce non-stop Perth-London B787 Services

Melbourne is on track for a greater population, but that is only part of the picture. Economically, SYD appears to provide better yields (i think EY's move this week confirms that). I originally thought QF might keep the MEL-DXB leg, but apparently QF believes it can make more more flying it to...

    QF announce non-stop Perth-London B787 Services

And??? I'm not sure QF should be launching services from cities purely for ego reasons. The reality is that SYD is still Australia's leading economic city... if I was running an airline, I'd fly from there too.

    QF announce non-stop Perth-London B787 Services

While often QF deserves some critiquing for it's SYD focus, for the time being, they are effectively just re-routing a service through a different stop-over. I didn't see any name change suggestions after MEL-NRT is launched.... plus QANTAS just has a better ring to it :-) Given their current...

14.5.4 Stopover conditions: (a) Five free stopovers are permitted; (b) Additional stopovers are not permitted; (c) You may only stop once in any one city; (d) Only two transfers are permitted at any one city. Sorry mate, not sure how you read it that way. Clarification might be useful...

    QF announce non-stop Perth-London B787 Services

Re: Qantas: non-stop Australia (Perth)-Europe (London) Boeing 787 flights set to soar That assumes QF keeps current QF 1/2 schedules. Could be a wider shake up... we'll find out soon.
