Bonus Velocity Status Credits for VA flights - Book & fly between 12 January and 31 March 2026

Yes indeed, but if you have an Opal Gold card (as I do) $2.50 won't break the bank. And yes, if you're not flying you should not have access to the lounge. Is anyone (other than clowns) running this airline? But, really, isn't it obscene that someone like Mr Rohrlach can F up a good FF program...

Qantas Economy Plus Launching Feb 2026

Good question. I see they're still blocking the bulkhead seats for Plats. That being the case, I'm happy to continue booking Scoot+ Row 1 (instead of Qantas) to SIN.

Article: How to Write an Effective Airline Complaint

Surely, just as AI to do it. No thinking required.

Bonus Velocity Status Credits for VA flights - Book & fly between 12 January and 31 March 2026

Well, it's all too late for me. I'm not in the least bit interested in this promo. I'm now a thoroughly rusted off Velocity member. I rarely buy VA tickets (only if there's a big price advantage) and am letting my status bleed out. I'll be Gold by mid year, but so what? Lounge access is still...

    Qantas A330-200 cabin refurbishments

Not so good if you're travelling as a couple (or even on your own). There'll always be a situation where you're climbing over someone or they are climbing over you. 3x anything is bad from my perspective.

The definitive thread on Qantas IT gripes

Yes, I've been getting this for a couple of days. It would seem to be tied to a recent comms/security software update. I have several Windows desktops, some running Win7 and some Win11. The problem occurs when using Win7 with any browser, but when I switched to Win11, using Firefox, the problem...

    Western Sydney Airport (WSI) Discussion

QF doesn't seem to be too keen to wholeheartedly jump on the WSI bandwagon (but who does?). Perhaps they've had a little pressure applied by the Feds and NSW Govt. It's an (expensive) airport (without decent transport links) that we didn't need to have. Ask Paul Keating....

Velocity Chief Nick Rohrlach departs in management shakeup

I don't think you can separate one from the other. And good luck to Mr Rohrlach. Though I don't think he will need it with his connections.

    Qantas A330-200 cabin refurbishments

Yes indeed. Y on a 787 is awful. If I'm travelling Y (which I seriously try and avoid), I'll take the 330 anyday over a 787 or 777. If you're travelling as a couple, the 330 is fine, with 2-4-2 in economy.

AFF Review: Emirates Boeing 777-300ER Economy Class Review (SIN-DXB)

In my younger days I have flown this product many times, and IMO it is underwhelming. The reason I flew it was mainly because of my Emirates Skywards Gold membership, which has now lapsed. I don't see myself flying Emirates again (why would I?). They're just not competitive any more.

United guts earning without UA linked credit / debit cards

As a UA Mileageplus lifetime Platinum, this is just another reason to avoid UA (if you're not living in the USA). The only good thing about my status is lifetime *G for myself and my wife. In my wildest dreams, I would never book a paid fare on UA now. UA is a waste of space (and money) as far...

    2027 travel plans

Yes, 2027 is a long way off, and I have no particular plans for 2027. At least I will be QF WP, and have reached a position where I can't find anywhere I want to go in Europe, apart from Italy (and maybe Greece), which I've visited many times. So I have no idea where I will be going next year...

    Qantas Wine latest offering

Yeah, I noticed that BP offer too, but thought I'd prefer to buy something actually drinkable (and with a few more bottles). So I'll wait it out.

Australian Dual Citizens Entering UK after February

I wonder how my grandkids would go. I am British by decent (my father was born in the UK), and my wife is British through birth. We registered our daughter at the British High Commission in Canberra (sat her on the counter) when she was a baby, and her husband is a true blue Aussie, who's...

Cash or Card? Countries where you still need cash.

Cash or Easycard are king in Taiwan. Aussie credit/debit cards are rarely accepted outside of hotels and other high-end vendors such as airlines and tour operators. Of course, Aussie cards can be used to get cash withdrawals from ATM and bank counters (but be wary of fees at some banks). My...

Qantas RM Williams Business Amenity Kits

Yes, I agree, but when you travel as light as I do, every sq cm of space in my carryon is valuable, and I'm afraid the amenity kit couldn't make the cut. I would have liked to take it home as it was nice, but unfortunately hard decisions sometimes have to be made. But it did manage to get as...

AirAsia X Launches Kuala Lumpur-Bahrain-London (Gatwick)

Yes, I can't see it being a raging success. And they'd be competing with Scott to some extent (to Europe).

    Qantas Sydney International Business Lounge

I had no problems getting in last Tuesday when flying QF J. Just wanted to check it out, and IMO, it wasn;'t too bad at all, the lack of paper towels in the loo notwithstanding. Of course, they could have banished me to the FCL.

Qantas RM Williams Business Amenity Kits

New kit on QF41 a few days ago. It seemed quite decent so I stuffed it into my carry on. Took a couple of things out of it and left it in my hotel room at CGK. Perhaps the cleaner could have made some use of some of it. I'm not really into amenity kits, as I' just had too mant over the last 40...
