United to remove passengers who use their phones and iPads on flights without headphones

Most people don't want to hear! (But agree that the use of phones etc without headphones is a scourge of the modern age.)

Qantas unveils the biggest changes to status in program history

It's one of the paradoxes of status that in order to get its benefits akin to business on economy flights through SG, you generally need to fly business class a fair bit. Whether to do a status run to get there depends on how much the status run costs (in both money and time) and how often...

    AccorPlus China

Although in practice, the AccorPlus China hack still works apparently provided you buy it after the regular Accor Plus. Mind you, I haven't tried this.

Possibly the Qantas IT not picking up the rollover. It should tick over in a day or two.

So it's on... again... Israeli airspace closed to civilian traffic. No word yet about other diversions etc but I suspect they'll come soon.

    Flybuys Targeted Bonus Promotions

No 4 week spend offer for me, but that's okay as I'll be in China next week. Hopefully a few low value spends will get my offer down for the next one. (I got 2000 points for $90 last week - did that, so the algorithm might have the wrong idea about my spend patterns.)

The Qantas Status Run Master Thread

I suspect you've probably left your dash too late. When hunting for cheap IB fares, the best deals are several months out. FWIW, I forced a LHR-MAD-HAM flight on 29 May using IB's multi-city tool. Came to 367 quid so about $720.

Try using UK Skyscanner or Kayak. I've found they're good at digging up cheap IB fares.

    Qantas Points Club Discussion

Yes, between PCP and Green Tier, requalification for gold only required 450 SCs. Eminently doable for me as a leisure traveller who mostly flew economy but would stick a business leg in from SE Asia to Europe to get across the line. From next year, it'll require 700SCs to get the same thing...

    Qantas Green frequent flyer tier

It wouldn't be Green Tier if all the IT worked properly. I requalified a couple of weeks ago. Finally got all five leaves added automatically (wonders never cease!) but, well, no option to choose 50SCs. Will shoot off an email in a week or so, given that Green Tier is now not long for this world...

Qantas unveils the biggest changes to status in program history

So many questions and thoughts. A few random ones that spring to mind, which I'm sure will be answered in due course: Will there still be a way of getting discounts on Qantas Wines for points buyers (replacing the 10% PCP benefit)? Will there be a mechanism to earn SCs on classic reward flights...
