Is InterContinental Brisbane Just a Crowne Plaza in a Fancier Suit?

I've stayed at more than a dozen IC globally this year, and even more last year. Brisbane "IC" has it's place, charm and whatever else - sure. But compared to every other IC I have ever stayed at, the Brisbane property is FAR below the level other IC operate at. Looking online it seems others...

    Thank you for your loyalty

LTG with not a lot of QF activity here... 80SC is totally lost on members like us, as anything below 1400 SC/year is not worth any effort.

Are Frequent Flyer Programs still worth the effort?

I'll let you in on a secret... Great loyalty programs are explicitly designed to drive behaviour from a % of the audience. It's the top ~25% of spenders/flyers who get the most out of QFF, and that is the audience it's designed around. This audience is exactly the folks you mention - business...

New Qantas promos including double status credits (book by 3/9/25; travel 4/9/25 until 22/8/26)

Alaska Airlines / OW. There are specific provisions in DRD to allow for this. QF are being lazy.

New Qantas promos including double status credits (book by 3/9/25; travel 4/9/25 until 22/8/26)

I hit LTG on my 30th birthday. Now in my 40's, I find LTG useful, although I hold multiple, fully-earned top-tier status with other airlines. I don't live in Australia, and when I do fly oneworld carriers - QF picks up accrual revenue. So it's a case of - QF earns something rather than nothing...

New Qantas promos including double status credits (book by 3/9/25; travel 4/9/25 until 22/8/26)

Two DSC in one year. The dark side to this is that QF has to continue running these campaigns, or big chunks of people lose status (since so many people are dependent on DSC to retain status). In this sense, the status economy is semi-artificially propped up by campaigns. While this isn't...

Is InterContinental Brisbane Just a Crowne Plaza in a Fancier Suit?

Lesson learned - won't be staying there again. I've sent feedback to IHG. That property is NOT at IC level. Drinks next time!~

Is InterContinental Brisbane Just a Crowne Plaza in a Fancier Suit?

I recently stayed at the InterContinental Brisbane, and it feels more like a good Crowne Plaza than a property worthy of the InterContinental brand. When I saw that Intercon was in Brisbane, I was admittedly excited to give it a try compared to other options. For context, I've been a Diamond...

    Malaysia e-wallet

Typically, GrabWallet balances are in silo as per the currency. You may get lucky, but don't bank on it!

    Malaysia e-wallet

Intl CC for rides/food etc is fine. Grab Ewallet (required if you want rewards) is malaysian card/bank account only.

    Malaysia e-wallet

Touch-and-go physical cards are reloadable using cash at most convenience stores. TNG ewallet is a Malaysian-only service, similar to Grab Wallet. Ewallets are mostly useless on day to day basis anyway. Stick with cash or an intl cc.

Jetstar Asia to shutdown on 31 July 2025

You can see me in the vid :D IMHO - Jetstar's big problem was loyalty program. SQ/TR both seamlessly intertwine with Krisflyer. All other premium carriers in the region have a proper loyalty proposition. Air Asia's loyalty is beyond pathetic, but they're known as the lowest cost (even though...

Jetstar Asia to shutdown on 31 July 2025

I was on the final KUL-SIN service, and there were loads of onboard announcements from crew/pilots. You could see the sadness and emotion in their faces and hear it in their voices. A large % of the pax had booked that flight knowing it was the final service. Sad to see them go - mainly...

    QF or EK?

There is something sweet about using EK in a QR lounge. I like it.

    QF or EK?

I hahve connecting sectors with MH, and that dones't jive with EK obviously. Maybe I'll hit up MH for Platinum status match. That would make it easy!

    QF or EK?

Think I could show EK# for lounge access, but credit to QF?

    QF or EK?

Flying SIN-SYD-BNE / BNE-SIN on QF#, booked in J. I'm LTG with QF, but I'm also EK Platinum. Would EK Plat status get me into QF F in SIN? I don't care about missing out on status credits (as lifetime), and at this point EK miles are more valuable than QF points to me. I'm wondering if there...

Qantas connecting to AF in Singapore

You are flying Air France. You are not flying with Qantas or oneworld. so it doesn't matter who you book it through. Qantas is essentially your travel agent in this scenario (and nothing more). All that to say that if you're not on a QF flight number, you're out of luck. P1/CL may still get...

Major changes to Velocity Frequent Flyer announced 17/10/24

Anyone earning 1685 status credits is unlikely to be doing that only in economy class, and the non-VA flying suggests high intl frequency. With the above assumptions, and applying the VA logic of 'we only want high spending domestic travellers'. I'd probably drop Velocity and stop flying VA...
