I would kind of expect at Platinum Plus that they would attempt to contact you about making that connection rather than assuming. Maybe I am expecting too much though. I've had personal phone calls for this and boarding just as WP with QF.

I don't expect to have my flight called in the lounge, make everyone wait to make my way down, and then move through the groups. If I want to be boarding with group 1 I make sure I'm at the gate 10 min prior rather than stuffing my face with beer and snacks 😅

Yes you remind me, when we boarded QF1 we were flying F and they specifically called out for F travellers only before boarding anyone else.

I don't have any personal experience but my take on it is if the child is young enough to not use any of the amenities then they might have more leniency. I'd certainly expect to need a pass for an 8 year old, especially in school holidays.
