RateDrop - Anyone else using this?

Other question that just occurred to me, is it able to take into account access to special rates like the 15% discount that Accor+ Explorer members get?

RateDrop - Anyone else using this?

I have seen it, but was honestly a bit suspicious. How is it making the new booking, do you just give them your details (presumably including ALL number) and they make a new booking acting as a travel agent on your behalf? I think I'd feel more comfortable with it if it just alerted me to the...

Velocity Chief Nick Rohrlach departs in management shakeup

You can't seriously think that a poll on AFF is a sample that is in any way representative of the general customer base of Virgin. Even you yourself are saying that, despite your grievances, you've (supposedly) kept flying Virgin during the last year so much that you've now been able to gift...

Bonus Velocity Status Credits for VA flights - Book & fly between 12 January and 31 March 2026

Sounds like they can't be doing all that much wrong if even someone who despises VA as much as you do has kept flying them so much that you've earned at least enough status credits in the last year to be gifting Platinum. Not such a DiSaStEr after all.

Velocity Chief Nick Rohrlach departs in management shakeup

The conclusion I've come to is that there is a solid subset of people in this forum that will never be happy and will complain no matter what Virgin does. Virgin could offer them an international network designed around their individual travel patterns and they'd complain that it doesn't fly to...

Landside arrival to Virgin (and Jetstar?) after rail

There's usually a placard (like this) at the top of the escalators coming out of the train station that points people to "Express Security" (the downstairs security) and has on it that you need to already have your boarding pass and be travelling carry on only and lists the hours (previously I...

    New VA bag tags 2026

They're handy for the turbo-prop services where your roll-aboard cannot be rolled aboard.

VA ‘Extra Comfort, Zero Imitation’ Economy X sale

I dunno, my experience has been that most of those seats are usually snapped up (either by Plats or paying customers) before check in even opens, especially on the longer flights. I'm a Plat and I always select my seat during booking or immediately after booking. I don't see the harm in letting...

How can AFF contribute towards relaxation of bilateral agreements between Australia and other countries?

For the purposes of air travel agreements Hong Kong is fully separate. You can check the register of available capacity to various countries on the Department of Infrastructure's website. For China it's on page 23 and Hong Kong is on page 41. The bilateral arrangements are different and...

    Accor Hotels in Bangkok

Loved Banyan Tree when I stayed there about six months ago. Great status recognition too. The one downside is that Banyan Tree hotels don't participate in Accor+, so you can't use any of the discounts or Stay Plus nights there.

Velocity Chief Nick Rohrlach departs in management shakeup

That's definitely interesting, although unverifiable. A lot of things get floated in focus groups and surveys that never eventuate into concrete action.

Velocity Chief Nick Rohrlach departs in management shakeup

OK, so there's been one fleeting mention of it. Hardly seems like this was a motivating factor and the way it's worded in that interview it sounds more like he's thought it up after the fact in response to noise on this forum. Hardly a "main goal" of the changes he implemented.

Velocity Chief Nick Rohrlach departs in management shakeup

I don't know that I've ever seen this specifically mentioned by anyone at VA as an objective of the changes. It gets brought up a lot on here as something people here think might be one of the objectives, but its just speculation. Personally I haven't had much issue with the lounges being...

    Western Sydney Airport (WSI) Discussion

I'm thinking that until the public transport options really get going, WSI's strength is going to be its parking. It'll certainly be way cheaper and easier than the parking at SYD and a lot easier driving there as well. For people living in the area (and possibly even further) being able to...

    Virgin CNS-MEL redeye

I've often wondered about the red-eye flights from PER to BNE/SYD/MEL that are operated by all three airline brands and have been for as long as I can remember. Even when I lived in Perth I only ever did it the once and swore I'd never, ever do it again. To me it's mystifying that anyone would...

New aviation industry ombudsman & customer rights charter in Australia

To no one's surprise, the aviation industry is now lobbying hard against the proposed scheme, even though it's well short of the "pay on delay" schemes that are becoming the standard in other countries...

Virgin Sydney Premium Entry Permanently Closing

My first experience with the new Priority security line at T2 SYD today at 16:30. There was a security staff member at the entrance to the line who was checking boarding passes and rejecting those not eligible. There was no waiting at all and I basically just went straight through security, even...

    MEL taxi scam

That doesn't mean it shouldn't be addressed. The public has a reasonable expectation that crime at the airport will not simply be accepted and that action will be taken to address it, even if you'll never eliminate it entirely. Would you accept it if drug dealers were plying their trade in the...

    MEL taxi scam

Safe Transport Victoria (which absorbed VCPV) has had crackdowns in the past: https://safetransport.vic.gov.au/news/tackling-touting-at-melbourne-airport/ But they seem to be sporadic. They have a blitz for a while and then stop. What they really should be doing is selecting a few days at random...

Card payment sucharges banned in Australia from 2026

I recall last time I was in London the EFTPOS payment terminal itself had a function to evenly split the bill. After typing in the total amount the waitress just pushed a "Split Bill" button and the terminal asked how many ways to split it, just two in this case, and then automatically divided...
