Why not open your own "agency"?

Yep there would definitely be some fees, but they don't seem awfully high - a couple of hundred bucks for ASIC company registration is the main one it seems. AFTA is no longer a requirement for setting up an agency, particularly if you don't intend to sell to the general public anyway, so no...

Why not open your own "agency"?

Question for this very wise community: Given all the experience and knowledge a lot of us on this forum have in terms of flights and travel, have you ever considered opening up your own "travel agency", potentially even just to organise flights for yourself/friends/family? Why I'm thinking...

Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

Contributing in this thread for the first time! Flew MEL-ADL, ADL-DRW about a week ago and had the Thai chicken/truffled mac combo on offer for both legs (the ADL-DRW leg came with an extra dessert). No complaints about either choice really as both were very satisfying, but the Thai chicken was...

The Dreaded "Your Booking has Changed" Email

It's technically possible, but as noted above may be risky given agent incompetence right now. How it should technically work is AF opens up positive space on the alternate flights, confirms your seat and update the record locator, at which point you can call QF to just reticket the flights (or...

Taken <2 More - use by Dec 3rd> QF general lounges passes x 2, expire 12 Nov 2022

Always looking for more - but it's always to help out friends and colleagues, so more than happy to yield to others on here :) either way, thanks for your generosity!

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

So is it everyone's opinion that applying for an ITIN by yourself is too complicated? It looked doable: 1. Send passport and bank cheque to US embassy in Canberra to certify identity document 2. Send W-7 along with form 1040 to IRS 3. Voila! Step 1 is pure admin but would cost around $90 and a...

    The House - Melbourne International

Yep Priority Pass is accepted with any airline, but just check the lounge hours to make sure it aligns with your departure time. There are some funny rules using Dragonpass and Priority Pass at this lounge- you have to pay a $20 surcharge if you want premium alcohol, anything off the a la carte...

Taken <2 More - use by Dec 3rd> QF general lounges passes x 2, expire 12 Nov 2022

Would love to grab one for a work colleague, so all three of us can get into the SYD QP at the end of the month. It's not terribly exciting though I know, so more than happy to step back if someone else has a more interesting use for them!

    Taken Qantas Lounge Invitations

And further update: no issues at the Singapore J lounge either!

    Taken Qantas Lounge Invitations

Update: no issues getting into the MEL Int J lounge - my friend just showed his Jetstar boarding pass and email confirmation that he received in August, and that was perfectly sufficient it seems. So it appears lounge passes just need to be linked before the pass expiry date, even if the flight...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Likewise, I had to undergo address verification too for my GT application recently, though didn't need to provide a statement as we completed a three way phone verification instead.

    Flight Change Notification

My experience with VA has consistently been that the card fee is not refunded, and this is across different card issuers and networks. FWIW, the fare and the card fee appear as separate transactions as part of the original purchase. The refund amount matches the fare charge.

    Taken Qantas Lounge Invitations

Hi @serfty, if no one else wants them, I'd love to take them off you and pass them onto my friend (I have his QFF details). Thanks!

Taken [Free] MEL Skybus Child Tickets

I have a bunch of SkyBus tickets for kids that I don't need (got them as part of a 3rd party promo), so happy to give them away to any existing and reasonably active members. I have three with me right now, and will be getting a few more over the next week or so. The ticket is just a QR code...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Yes I encountered this with my recent application (first card). Called them up, explained that I didn't have a US tax record and that the application was a Global Transfer application. The agent (offshore I believe) understood immediately and transferred me through to a GT specialist (onshore)...

VA Booking with Fare Type Business, but has some economy segments

It's not exactly the same but for what it's worth, I'm currently booked to fly domestic business for a couple of legs, international business for a few more, before ending with a final leg in domestic economy due to availability, all on a single rewards ticket. The "Fare Type" shown on each...

    Flight Change Notification

Yes agree! I can't see how they can justify the processing of a card payment as a service rendered in its own right, but can't say I've ever challenged them on this either (mainly because I worry about the taxes and points being held hostage, so I've always just written this off as ransom...

Etihad Economy Extra leg room seats

Yep agree, all their channels charge money if you request to be assigned a space seat (at least officially), even at check in. I've lucked out a couple of times though with having it automatically assigned during online check in (though if I recall correctly, I wasn't able to choose a different...
