Qantas Project Sunrise goes ahead, 12 new A350-1000s ordered

They will need high LFs on these flight so I’d say last minute will be quite competitive vs connections (less revenue flowing to partner also)

    Western Sydney Airport (WSI) Discussion

So which subsidiary is QF using for these WSI flights? Alliance seems unlikely after today’s news. NJS likely won’t have the aircraft unless the are using crews being based at other capitals and fly in and out everyday with no aircraft based at the airport

    Alliance Airlines Discussion

I assume the pushing alternatives line is also to put some heat on QF Management. Most options on the table will somewhat be costly to Alliance, unless they can secure more funding from Qantas, which seems somewhat unlikely. They do seem to have significant amount of debt due in the coming...

    Alliance Airlines Discussion

Share Price down 70% in 6 months, 15% today already. More pain to come if they can’t pull more cash out of Qantas.

    Alliance Airlines Discussion

I can see they have released market updates this morning. It looks like earnings guidance has slipped a further 20% compared to the last guidance in November. They seem very clear in the results, the QF wet lease is unviable and seems to be sinking the whole company. I don’t know what levers...

    Alliance Airlines Discussion

The wet lease appears to go until 2028. I thought it was just covering until all the 220s arrive? So they might not need the wet lease after 2028? Looks like it’s slowly being scaled down as more 220s arrive, probably works if Alliance pilots are all leaving.

Virgin Australia to Reconfigure 737 Fleet - Spend $110M

I wonder if they remain post divider?

Velocity Chief Nick Rohrlach departs in management shakeup

I always found this weird. Is that because they need an executive responsible for the VARA AOC?

    Jetstar reviewing Cabin Bag policy

The Europeans have become accustomed to these sort of rules, Australians will struggle to adapt. It’s very simple, they can fly either Virgin or Qantas. Australians are very good at ranting and raving over these fees, but they seem to keep forgetting nobody is forcing them to fly them. $10-$30...

    Western Sydney Airport (WSI) Discussion

HSR will never have anything substantial allocated to it as the SRL will simply chew up everything that is currently not budgeted for, and needs tens of billions.

    Jetstar reviewing Cabin Bag policy

Placing baggage in the hold at the gate if its too big for the measuring device just adds further complexity, Jetstar use containers for loading so I don’t believe they would bag check a whole bunch at the gate. Remains to be seen if a bag is too big, will they still let it onboard or check it.

    Virgin Australia flights to Doha

Well that would be an option. Virgin could come out and say they have concluded that they cannot take these flights on in house as they will be loss making, can’t get aircraft, scale is too small etc etc, please grant QR extra bilaterals.

    Virgin Australia flights to Doha

Well that was always the intention I guess. They got what they wanted. Now the trick is to see how long they can run this arrangement. Ideally, forever and ever.

    Jetstar reviewing Cabin Bag policy

This is a odd one. I assume they want to get rid of those people who are walking around weighing bags. Another cost they can rip out...

Velocity Chief Nick Rohrlach departs in management shakeup

5 years in Management is often the norm before someone departs for the next thing. They might have just committed to 5 years also. Often seen with CEO handovers, don’t forget Nick missed out on the CEO job. This has probably been in the works since Jayne Hrdlicka left considering who they have...

Velocity Chief Nick Rohrlach departs in management shakeup

This must have been in the works for some time if they already have an external lined up. He would have worked with Jayne Hrdlicka while she was at Loyalty after Jetstar, so likely where the connection came from. JH still has one or two C suite jobs at Endeavour she hasn’t replaced yet so I’d...

Velocity Chief Nick Rohrlach departs in management shakeup

I agree with the above, I sort of feel like Velocity has been a bit flat post administration. They need to invest and fix the digital platforms. They are just shocking.

Velocity Chief Nick Rohrlach departs in management shakeup

I wonder if either will pop up at Endeavour Group. Here is the new boss for Velocity and his Qantas work. 2018 - 2020 Executive Manager - Customer Experience, Qantas Loyalty @ Qantas 2016 - 2018 Head of Partnerships and Alliances @ Qantas 2013 - 2016 Head of Investor Relations @ Qantas 2017 -...

    Virgin CNS-MEL redeye

They generally do skew lower priced, especially in peak holidays or on peak day during the week. We might see a PER-WSI flight that now enables them to do a 6pm/7pm ish departure from Perth that arrives around 12/1am. Currently the last departure from Perth is around 3pm.
