    Troubles in Noumea

A couple of APCs is easy - in, in, out, out. Many people with many bags, eats up time. RAAF would have to find a balance between pissing people off (HLO) and flapping around when time is short dealing with the bags.

NC isn't cheap if you're not self-catering. No seat out today, I suspect they're getting the elderly and those with children out first.

The cleaner came around yesterday, no linen or anything but she offered to mop the floors, etc. I've previously mentioned the rest. The food supply chain is ramping up again, the convenience stores here can feed you if you're not picky, and the bakery is still open now knocking out baguettes...

Monday. It's a public holiday here so the bakery was shut. Dead quiet around Anse Vata but still other areas are troublesome. The McDonalds at Boulari was torched, haven't seen too much new news to learn anything. The forces are still working on the airport road. A nice person came to our hotel...

Sunday PM This is the way, our thoughts are the same. Sit tight, the army will do what they do best and we should be off on Wednesday or so. There was an unpublicised meeting at the Hilton today with the consulate staff, that is if you weren't in the Hilton you didn't know. Apparently DFAT...

    Troubles in Noumea

You're right about the whinging. Went out for lunch and the next table was doing the math on how many QF A380s would be needed by the Government to get us all home. The concept of the road hadn't sunk into their heads.

    Troubles in Noumea

Sunday. Last night DFAT called for a welfare check, thank you. This morning their email suggests the RAAF is ready to fly us home if commercial flights are cancelled. Also this morning the minister of the interior for outer ocean announced an operation was taking place from ~0800h with 600...
