I've found some joy booking Classic flight rewards in Emirates First with QF points in recent years. So it is a bit of a kick in the teeth that they'll both be equalised with QF rewards which in turn will go up by 20% too. Maybe 250k points from Europe to Australia in first now? Carrier charges...

Depends on how they're earned. Bonuses (not just for credit cards) are nowhere near as good as they were a few years ago.

Have looked and SYD - DOH on VA flights seems to be the same Avios points price? This is of relevance to this thread given plenty of people would have options to book this flight with either set of points.

Just pointing out these redemption opportunities for two seats close to Xmas for anyone who is interested. They involve a long wait in Singapore but flight price is a little over $2k (when cost of buying miles is taken into account) one way for anyone who might be interested.

How many bonus points are you getting for the referral? Might ring up Amex and ask them if I can get a targeted offer, I put a good amount through the card per year.

Last couple of Januarys have had pretty great Amex platinum referral offers - 80-100k per referral, 250-275k for the person I referred. Still stuck at 50k/150k this year. Anyone anticipating this might improve over the course of this month?

Plenty of seats in J from MEL to SIN/BKK (and probably other SEA destinations) for the few days before Xmas 2025. Haven't checked the return. Works out just over $1k AUD one way. You can also fly to CGK for the same points price (so $2k return) then hop on a return flight CGK to LHR for Xmas...

Hard to predict these things but even if we get a devaluation I’m not sure it’d be a huge one. AC really seem to value the popularity of their program and they still insulate their own seats from these cheap redemptions.

Just received notification from Qantas. Was booked in First on points. Have clicked on "change flights" but no suitable flights found. I assume this is the same for people booked in business on points?
