Qantas - Emirates Award flight Discussion

Got my final EK F experience doing MEL - DXB - BRU (for gamechanger experience) in Feb. Suspect it'll be the last on QFF points. I am guessing EK probably had to technically leave some occasional F availability space here and there to QF (when they otherwise limited it to their silver FFs...

BA Avios devaluation from 15 Dec 2025

This would mean 450,000 MR would transfer to 300,000 Marriot rewards which would in turn transfer to 100,000 airline miles. Add on a 25,000 bonus (5,000 for every 60,000 MR) and it's still a rate of 3.6:1. Surely you'd just transfer straight from Amex at 3:1 unless it was a program not covered...

BA Avios devaluation from 15 Dec 2025

Qatar are due a devaluation but they won't necessarily follow BA, they didn't with the last devaluation I don't think. If anyone moves with BA first it'll be Iberia but I haven't seen this yet either. Ultimately BA have the whip hand being the transatlantic airline of choice for business...

    Strategy to obtain UK Amex

Yep, booking through their hotel and flight platforms can give some big multipliers. But I had a quick look at it and they don't give the best deals...

    Strategy to obtain UK Amex

HSBC have their own rules. I'm a Brit but my dad is Indian (but a UK citizen) and we both have HSBC Premier accounts based in India through his original account. I need to do a bit of admin but I should be able to get an Indian HSBC Premier credit card which gives the equivalent of 1.7 points...

    Strategy to obtain UK Amex

My UK bank account is with Natwest. They asked me for my sort code and account number. The address on the account is UK, they didn't request any statements but I'm not sure if they could find that information out through their checks. Also I've logged on to my work computer, gone to the same...

    Strategy to obtain UK Amex

Ha so I applied at around 8:30 pm Australian time. Called up Amex UK and they said again I needed evidence of UK income, the second person was very pessimistic that only my AU tax return would suffice (she also asked her senior). Was told I'd get a reply in around 5 business days. I did...

    Strategy to obtain UK Amex

Think they've got stricter on this. Submitted everything including my Australian Amex card number, UK phone number, UK address and UK bank account but my application was put on hold. They're wanting verification of my UK income which obviously I can't provide. Someone told me I can submit my...

Card payment sucharges banned in Australia from 2026

As others have pointed out Amex doesn't have interchange. Regulation of Amex is bundled in with BNPL systems which also don't have interchange fees. So it's still unclear how RBA could regulate this other than banning surcharges. Also as per the second point, Amex could potentially get more...

HSBC Premier credit card - too good to be true?

I think I can get the Indian version of this. I'm a British with Australian PR but my dad is Indian (with British citizenship) living in the UK. We both have HSBC Premier bank accounts based in India and my dad has a card which effectively offers the equivalent of 1.7 points per dollar on all...

    Strategy to obtain UK Amex

Thank you for this detailed response. Though I can't be bothered with the BA or Marriott Amex as they don't really have great signup bonuses. I don't see the ancillary benefits as being worth the hassle. What does FR stand for in this context?

Card payment sucharges banned in Australia from 2026

I don't think either of these things are true. I haven't heard any latest rumours about them being directly affected? Feel free to point me to them if I'm wrong but these changes were always about the banks. The RBA doesn't even have the same jurisdiction over Amex AFAIK. The rumours as they...

    Strategy to obtain UK Amex

Do you still get the bonus points when doing Global Transfer? What other evidence did they request? I'll probably ditch it after I've used the first pair of 100 quid credits (in and out of UK) and the bonus points are through as I read UK Amex gives pro rata refunds.

Card payment sucharges banned in Australia from 2026

I have been investigating somehow getting the UK Amex Plat only today (as I've posted elsewhere on this site) and it's giving me an option of 95k Amex MR points (equivalent to 190k Australian MR). It says this is based on my cookies. I still have an British address and can get a UK phone...

Card payment sucharges banned in Australia from 2026

They won't necessarily go anywhere. They don't need a similar card. After a certain point the annual fee becomes less and less worth it as does using the card for transactions. If it was this easy for them to devalue in quick succession then we would've seen them devalue a lot more a long time...

Card payment sucharges banned in Australia from 2026

AUD-USD has been trending in the same range for the last three years. Sure it's less than historical levels but we haven't seen a sudden decline. I doubt Amex can sustain another round of devals any time soon without getting lots of people ditching their cards.

Card payment sucharges banned in Australia from 2026

Exactly. The original plans were far too restrictive. There should be a way to preserve the benefits of premium cards whilst simplifying things for customers who don't use the benefits. Indeed I'd be happier for an even higher cap on the premium cards so we can have benefits closer to the old...

    Strategy to obtain UK Amex

Could you explain global transfer and how it relates to income verification? Just looked on the actual website and it's saying 95k points, at 1:1 this is definitely worth trying! Would transferring not mean I have to give up my Australian Amex? The dining credit is generous too and I'll be in...
