Virgin Bali expansion, next up CBR-DPS

They axed it due to aircraft shortages or something, but I think it was more the capacity dump from JQ doing nearly double daily across the week with A321s. I think with that and now QZ daily the market is likely full. Perhaps they could run it seasonal in peak holidays? No bilateral...

Jetstar Boeing 787 refurbishment adding more Business Class seats

Considering how new 787-8 D checks are to most workshops (less than 50 done to date globally) I would probably expect the first one to blow out a bit, especially with all the extra tasks. Will be interesting to see what type of silver they opt for. They have changed it again on the Neo, and I...

Jetstar Boeing 787 refurbishment adding more Business Class seats

Confirmed by JQ. Certainly a lot happening. I’d imagine the bill would be significant. -D check -Wifi -Crew Rest -Seats -Paint https://australianaviation.com.au/2026/01/jetstars-first-dreamliner-arrives-in-hong-kong-for-cabin-revamp/

Virgin Bali expansion, next up CBR-DPS

Run some numbers for say 50% loads on an A320Neo for Sydney to Canberra. Nice way to burn some money and waste equipment.

Virgin Bali expansion, next up CBR-DPS

Virgin always seems to carry high connections around its network. Last year on a delayed MEL-OOL we needed to wait while 30 people got off quickly to connect to the OOL-DPS flight. DPS directs on Virgin can often get pricey especially in peak while connections are cheaper. Having a look next...

Virgin Bali expansion, next up CBR-DPS

It’s all about getting past the bilateral limits and gaining an extra MEL frequency. The day they get additional bilaterals approved is the day the Canberra tag dies.

Virgin Bali expansion, next up CBR-DPS

They should do better compared to Batik as they will be able to funnel through a whole bunch of connections. Batik was only doing around 30-50 people per flight. I think TSV would have been a better opportunity or even HBA.

Virgin Bali expansion, next up CBR-DPS

Will probably just use one of the two aircraft that would sit idle overnight at CBR, only really costing an afternoon in utilisation. The route will not operate in Feb or March.

Moving to 10 weekly during peak also.

New airline (TransNusa) to fly Perth- Bali

Double checking, I can’t anything that permits the aircraft to fly here. It’s a very bizarre statement to make.

New airline (TransNusa) to fly Perth- Bali

I don’t think the Comac is permitted to fly here until CASA approves it, which would likely not occur until the FAA or EASA does so. Darwin to Lombok is a weird one, Perth to Lombok would work and I’m surprised nobody has launched that yet...

Air Asia is back and looking to add A220s

Engine costs have grown significantly since 2019 though. I think it’s going to be tough in the LCC space moving forward for those operating newer fleets in lower yield markets like intra Asia, keep an eye on some who are holding onto mid life aircraft now. Turkish was out recently talking about...

Qantas to start flights from Darwin to Singapore
