Qantas cancels flight, refuses paid upgrade, refuses points refund

Thanks Op. Well done... I'll have to defend qantas slightly on this to say that at least they have phone numbers and there is the ACA. Offtopic= By comparison Ticketek is a complete blank wall, aside from maybe an email address. They will happily rip you off and deny a refund for their error...

    Qantas brand badly tarnished

Well, Michelin employ 1000s of inspectors who go to 100s of restaurants. It seems to me the main (only?) impediment to implementing the same ranking approach to airlines is money. I completely agree the financial cost would be massive to normalise all the factors your mention for airline...

    Qantas brand badly tarnished

What is your opinion of the Michelin Star system as a ranking system? In the context of independent or an alternative to skytrak process. Is that a realistic way for airlines, do you think? I'm not ignoring the fact that Michelin must need good income to cover their expenses. Maybe the expense...

    Qantas Green frequent flyer tier

Recently I've found virgin J is often less that economy flex on both virgin and qantas. Certainly don't need status in that situation. that's probably changed now, and hence status becomes important

    What cheeses me off

Well, that's in most states and the separation distance depends on the speed limit. The thing I observe the most is drivers who overtake cyclists in the situation you describe unsafely. I've never been in a hilly situation where I could not overtake safely and maintain the required separation...

Virgin Australia "Milestone Announcement" June 1, 2023

Fixed it for them - It's the observer's frame of reference. Is there more than one standard of time? Do we all just use SI?

    What cheeses me off

I am talking about cyclists. It was right there in my post. Of course, the rule is about Unreasonable Obstruction As long as other drivers are not obstructed, you can drive any speed (below the limit). And picking up the driving to conditions stuff raised in thread. A driver can obstruct...

    What cheeses me off

    1. Cyclists DO NOT DRIVE. 2. Read again - they CANNOT unreasonably obstruct the road by driving slow. 3. A cyclist is NOT obstructing the road since other drivers, who are actually driving, can EASILY pass them 4. Yes, you CAN drive 50 kph below the speed limit, as long as you DO NOT obstruct...

    What cheeses me off

A rule about obstructing the road that is irrelevant to a cyclist. It sure as hell does not impose a minimum speed limit, unreasonably obstructing is the rule. Cyclists can easily be overtaken, unlike a car. Read it again. I've emphasised a number of key words that you seem to have ignored...

I agree 3 is reasonable. doesn't help me when I travel with 4 people. Being able to pool to have a platinum and a gold to allow access on that rare occasion is very, very helpful. Note my comment is a reply to the suggestion to remove family pooling because of all the people getting platinum...

    What cheeses me off

I'm going to guess all the cycling posts have been deleted. At risk of being bad THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS MINIMUM SPEED LIMIT. That's why there are overtaking rules. Ticketek is a scam, fixed that for you One of my offspring purchased 2 tickets via the official ticketek resale system for a...

Best Australian debit card for overseas cash withdrawals?

Probably the other thing about all this is I'm now in the currency speculation stage. I'm getting my international board fees, which are set in USD, paid to me in USD. Gambling on the exchange rates. Thanks. that's a relief. At this stage I've schedule a payment so that gets around the...

Best Australian debit card for overseas cash withdrawals?

Just set up a HSBC global account last week. not sure I'm entirely happy with the A$10 fee to receive money from overseas USD to USD. I suppose that's kind of fair for international transfers getting converted into AUD. BUT there is also a $10 fee to receive AUD from and AUD account to the HSBC...

All my family members are adults, so no not generous. You might be getting confused with the child policy, which is also generous on Qantas. You may also miss the point that VA lounge are almost all domestic. Qantas also allow guess who are flying on other airlines in domestic lounges.

Or give the platinum more guess access for family members so they don't have to use pooling to make sure there is enough combines status so that the 4 or 5th family member can use the lounge for holidays. Then again, imagine the potential for family Lord of Flies action. Maybe VA should set up...
